"He pointed towards the devil as it started to reform once again. As it did, Travis and Finite made their way to the open battlefield and prepared to fight. Finite took out his shotgun and, along with Dan, started to shoot at it's eye. Yellow Devil, getting annoyed, started to shoot blasts of energy at the two, causing them to jump out of the way, and stop their shooting. But while Yellow Devil was distracted by attacking them, Travis and Cold both flew up into the air and started to attack from there. Yellow Devil swatted at the two, causing them to fly back, and out of anger, split himself up again. Only this time differently. He formed into five huge piles of mass. They went flying in random directions, except for one which went straight at an easy target. The one who helped kill him before - Travis. He didn't see it coming, and was flung back by the mass, flying until he rammed straight into a building. His jet pack starting to break, causing his body to fall from the building onto th-""W-Wha!"
Travis landed on the floor, face first onto his pillow he had placed there before going to sleep. Expecting the nightmare again, he was thankful for having the hindsight to at least make his awakening semi-painless. Breathing heavily, he sat up and stared at his alarm clock. 3:54 AM.
"...Gugh. That dream again..."
He stood up, stretching for a moment before throwing on a light tank top and a pair of shorts. He walked into the hallway, reaching the door to the ship's deck and opening it slowly. The night sky was cloudy, but a crescent moon hung in the sky above to the west. Walking up the steps towards the upper desk, Travis stopped at the railing and looked out at the ocean. In the far distance, Sheillo City could be seen, the bright lights of the city visible even from the coast of Ecaron. A cool breeze blew across the deck of the massive airship, causing Travis to shiver a bit.
"...It's been so long since that day. All those years ago... Back in Agorix... If I had been just a bit stronger, maybe I could have..."
...No. There's no more 'Could haves' or 'What ifs' now. That was over 5 years ago.
A creaking noise behind him made him jump, and as he turned he saw Naomi, wearing a silky crimson night gown, adorned with multiple accessories. It was obvious she had weaved it together herself, as it was parted in the back near where her body went from human to spider, as to prevent discomfort.
"...Oh. It's just you." Travis sighed, leaning against the railing with his Falcon Claw.
"What do you mean, 'just me'? Were you expecting someone else?" The spiderling replied, smirking before walking over beside him. "This is the fifth time this month that you've come out here this early in the morning. Is something bothering you?" She tilted her head, a worried look on her face.
"...No. I'm just... reminiscing about the past. Before I became the captain of the Golden Falcons..." He replied, looking up at the stars above the two.
"That war you sometimes talk about?"
"Yeah. The one where I was nearly killed in Agorix."
"...That was a long time ago, though, wasn't it? You didn't even have your arm back then, right?"
Travis nodded. Yawning, he looked back out towards Sheillo City.
"...Like you said. It was a long time ago. Things have changed so much since then. I've met you all, we've explored the world, plundered ancient ruins, battled so many different creatures, and sometimes even each other..." He looked at Naomi, staring for a few moments before letting out a long, remorseful sigh. "Sometimes, I just wish I knew what would have happened if I hadn't been left there. If they had known I was... still alive."
Naomi put her hand on his right shoulder, smiling softly. "But they didn't. And would you have met all of us if they did?"
Travis took a moment to consider it. She had a point. If he hadn't been proclaimed dead on the spot, perhaps things would be very different. He understood that he most likely would not have met any of his current friends and allies. And yet, a nagging feeling in the back of his head persisted.
"...I don't know. And I probably won't ever find out. But, in the end, I'm thankful." Naomi tilted her head at this, and as she was about to ask why, he cut her off. "I'm thankful for the fact I have such trusting allies like you all. Sure, I miss my old allies and wish I could find at least one of them to see how they've changed. But I would rather be with you all than with them."
Naomi smiles, then hugged Travis quickly before looking out at the coast. "You should at least try to get some sleep. Do you want me to get you an extra blanket? It's going to be cold this morning."
"Hah, it already is pretty cold. But with you guys, it's just a bit warmer."
