I saw that via the newsletter a couple days ago.

I'm totally getting one, or asking for one for Christmas.

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Favorite Boss Theme From Any Mega Man Game
« on: November 28, 2010, 10:07:38 PM »
Mega Man 7's for sure is my all-time favorite!  It's just got so much style, so much pizazz, yet it still sounds sinister in its own way.  And it's catchy as heck.  Speaking of, that game has a really good and fitting final boss theme especially for how hard it is; Mega Man 5's final boss is my favorite but that fight's impossible to lose if you have Beat.

Runners up would be MM10 (especially the arrange album version with that extra bit), MM2 (just good ol' classic and super-catchy, though it's awful short) and MM3 (for the reasons Snakey said).  MM6 gets points for having the most badass intro portion of them all (particularly when actually seeing it in the game, as the Master drops down with lightning strikes and all that).

As for X, I have to say X1 has by far the best boss music up to X5 at least, which has a very nice boss tune but is one of my least favorites in that series as a game overall!

Well, the Kirby skin's beat you to that .3.

But yeah, it's a really good skin!  Great for a first try, too!  I really need to start making some myself :3

...You know, Roboenza-ites have a green, yellow and red palette, right? You can tell by the other colors.

I mean, it changes the cyan, blue, and black of the default color palette, right?  So a skin with no black would be weird for roboenza--I remember reading people complain about that for skins with no border or something before.

Anyway, I have a question relevant to the thread.  Is there an easy way to check all your states in-game and make sure they're all working right?  As far as I can tell the closest thing you have to seeing your own skin is chase cam (3rd person) which is just good for checking the back states, and Roll's mirror that's just good for checking the front, and maybe diagonal front states.  Is there an easy way to check your side and back/diagonals, also how would you go about checking your damage states?

K, I'm screwed.

I'll do a guy with no black.

But haven't people complained of skins with no black looking weird / being hard to identify when infected with Roboenza?  Like, it actually changes the black too, it's the only thing in the game that does that, but seeing as how popular Roboenza is...

Skins & Bots etc / Re: Heat Man's new facial expressions

"Ever think it was weird or boring how Heatman's mouth was always opened?  Well, now you can see it always CLOSED!  What an improvement!"

Heheh, but really, that's just a "thing" with Heatman that kinda goes with what we've known of him since back in the day.  I mean, Iceman, Brightman, Sparkman, etc. have similar mouths.  It's silly, but kinda cute.

I mean, though if you like it that way, and you're gonna use a skin like that, it's good of you to share it so we can see you as Heat rather than a Megaman, but in my own humble opinion you'd have to do a bit more than make his mouth a line to warrant a real use of that skin; doing some neat little things like making his attack animation produce the M. Bison glowing hand like in Rockman no Constancy, and for me personally I think he'd look cooler with a permanent angry-eyes expression with the mouth open than :| face all the time.

Mine's a flowchart explaining Crush Crawfish's thought processes.

haahah, nice.

also, DTD and Ivory definitely have my favorite avatars here; not that everyone else's aren't super snazzy, I just really love those two!  I had to save the Jackson gif, and if possible I'd love to see the full version of yours, Ivory.

anyway, mine's official art of Pluto from MMV.  I couldn't stick with an avatar until I found this one, which kind of exemplifies everything about me, in a way :3

Anything Goes / Re: Where did you get your name?
« on: November 22, 2010, 05:20:16 PM »
Well, I've had a million billion names online and I've never really liked any of them much or used any of them that long-- actually the longest one I ever used was "Breakman" or "BreakmanDX", which would have been very fitting for here since it's from Break Man from Mega Man 3, but I never liked that name all that much since it wasn't terribly unique, just being taken from a game (no offense to you guys who use names like that, it's just a personal thing).  So lately I've been wanting to stick to just one name for good and I was thinking of all the unique names I've ever thought up, and this one seemed like the coolest/least stupid; I basically took the name Elias, which I used online a lot, which I got from a character in the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics, and added an "R" to it after I found out it was a real name that was decently common.  I dunno, it's just kinda simple and sounds cool and looks cool, so it works, and I can use any kind of avatar or whatever and still have it fit (unlike when I was using "copyrighted" names like some form of Breakman, or Yoshi, or some pokemon).

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Megaman 10, Worth It?
« on: November 22, 2010, 05:43:26 AM »
I kinda really love MM10, like, a lot.

In fact, shamelessly plugging here, I wrote the one and only walkthrough for the game (as far as I know) on the internet.  I just... really love it!

I think it's overall about as good as, if not slightly better than, 9; MM2, 3, 9, and 10 are all the "crown jewels" of the classic Mega Man franchise, in my opinion.  9 has more classic nostalgia what with the sounds and songs ripped straight from Mega Man 2 and the style of the music and everything much more classic, whereas 10 has a bit more flair; a lot of people hate move the music at first but grow into it--a lot of it doesn't sound that Mega Man-like but in fact each boss's theme was composed by a different composer from the classic Mega Man games.  And of course you have all the difficulties and two characters from the get-go, with even more and more modes as DLC to keep you playing.   It's great, really fun, lots to do, and a good challenge.  Less cheaply challenging than 9's plethora of instant-death traps and it's much cheaper and easier to buy loads of Beat Calls and Shock Guards to keep yourself form dying in 1 hit anywhere in 10,, but the outright challenge of  enemies and bosses mixed with less overpowered Master Weapons than 9 means that it's got more *fair* challenge.

And yes, Bass DLC is worth it.  I'd say all 3 special stages and Bass are the best DLC for the game.

Lol, but who needs a thread about it on another forum when we have a whole forum about it here? :3

I've actually made threads about MM8BDM on some other forums I visit.  I had to spread the word about this awesome thing once I found out about it!

I insist on being on the smallest team, and in games like tf2 on the server I've played on for so long I know all the regulars, the less-skilled over all team.  Not that I'm the best player ever, but I like to try to help the team that needs help more, and if our team's getting owned it's just a learning experience; you'll actually build skill at a game if you play against difficult opponents, rather than playing with them and letting them carry you all the time.
