I really don't think mavrick meant to be literal about the child-killing demon thing, lol. It's just, in many video games you play as something that you yourself are nor, or would not like to be; such as a giant blue hedgehog or a pudgy little Italian man. And then sometimes you're really messed up guys that you'd never WANT to be (at least in the situation they're in at the beginning of the game) i.e. most the Grand Theft Auto protagonists no matter how much you love playing those games--if it were YOU, in real life, you wouldn't be able to pull off the things those guys pull off. You wouldn't wanna be those guys. But it's fun to play as them.
So Castlevania has some Christian undertones considering these guys fighting Dracula and evil itself are basically holy warriors--the crosses, holy water, sacred weapons, Trevor kneeling in front of the cross at the beginning of Castlevania 3, Leon Belmont being a Crusader, etc. -- yeah, these guys are mostly Christians, or at least "holy" enough to be able to use items like Holy Water as effective weapons (i.e. Alucard); but the games themselves are never remotely heavy with Christian undertones, it's just what your playable characters tend to be based off of--holy warriors who'd fight against evil, fantasties from medieval times when people really thought enemies like that existed in reality and needed to be hunted and killed. Of course, that's just the raw basis of the idea for the series and as has bene mentioned there's plenty of Greek, Egyptian and various other mythologies strewn all around the games, and from the very first Castlevania/Akumajo Dracula the real main influence would seem to be classic monster films much more than real-world Christian mythology.
Plus, realize that back in the day Nintendo of America was even kind enough to censor the 'Cross' subweapon as the 'boomerang' and edit out religious implications in the backgrounds; plus, you gotta consider heroes like Soma Cruz in some of the newer entries of the series who could hardly be considered Christian, though who knows.
Basically, yeah, don't worry about it 8)
