Help & Editing / Re: Questions about messages, spectating and playing

Thanks for the replies.  I finished chapter 3.  I'm getting the idea that some stages are easiest by using certain Robot Master weapons and others need a huge amount of aggression and precision, if not luck.

Once you reach the top, point down while climbing. But beware players with rapid fire weapons, as the infected have very slippery feet. Or aren't very manly.
Thanks.  I did eventually figure it out.  No idea how non-infected keep getting themselves wedged up into the corners near the "ceiling" of Crashman's stage, but I'm guessing that's not an intended feature.

I think this is the last question I'm going to have for awhile.  Is crouching turned off on certain maps, or is it turned off on certain servers?  I was on one server last night that was nearly empty and able to do so on Needleman's stage.  Today, I tried to see if it works on Metalman's stage on a different server and it wouldn't.  I don't seem to remember it working on single player, come to think of it.

I had this problem, myself.  The thing that worked for me, though, was to grab whatever weapon was closest to me, jump right into the middle of the gangbang, and open fire on everyone nearby.  While this sounds incredibly suicidal, this actually worked wonders for me.  I was surprised.
I'm glad to read I wasn't the only one who had problems with that stage.  Maybe I will give that a try later, but I don't think I'm proficient with most of those weapons in close quarters.  I did get past Elecman's stage, though.  What worked for me was standing on the lowest tower and just firing Search Snake as fast as I could.  Sometimes bots would get caught in the crossfire, but mostly I was aiming for whichever one was on the opposite tower firing Metal Blade at me (which is much easier to dodge at that distance).  I don't know if it's foolproof, but it worked once and that was enough for me.  Of course, I couldn't just stop.  I wanted to get far enough to trigger a save.  I did finish chapter 1, but I wouldn't have made it through Wily Stage 1 without Super Arm or that ledge it was on.  The bots were ending up with twice as many frags as I had by the end of a match before I figured out how to chuck boulders onto their heads.

Before all of that, I tried out Roboenza and that's very fun.  However, I couldn't seem to reliably climb onto the top of a wall or pillar while infected, while others made it look easy.  Is there a trick to that?

Thank you for the quick responses.  I overlooked coop spy, somehow.  As for the text, reading the console works just fine for single player, since the game will pause while the console is open.  Making the text larger helps, but I still have to find a balance between size and keeping things from overlapping for multiplayer.  If anyone knows if it's possible to change how long messages stay on the screen, I would still like to know that.

Help & Editing / Questions about messages, spectating and playing

Hello.  I like what I have seen of this game so far, but there are a few things which I haven't been able to find information about, yet.

1st, the messages which appear at the top of the screen, either from Dr. Light and such in single player or the chat for multiplayer, don't stay on the screen long enough for me to read them.  This is very frustrating.  I cannot seem to find any way to change how long a message is displayed for through the options menus.  How can I change this?

2nd, I just started looking into the multiplayer servers, joining occasionally but mostly spectating.  I have watched some gameplay videos and noticed it is possible to watch through the perspectives of the active players while spectating, but I haven't found out how to do this yet.  It doesn't seem to be the "chasecam" key, but none of the other button mappings have names that look like they do that.  What button allows this?

3rd, I haven't played this sort of FPS in years.  I love the Air Shooter, but it isn't available on Elecman's stage in the first chapter of single player.  I get turned into scrap if I try to fight down on the ground regardless of the weapon I use, but if I just stay on the plateaus in the corners, I can survive but I can't get enough kills to win.  Does anyone have any tips on getting beating Elecman's stage?

Finally, is there a way to map turning 180º to a button?  The last FPS I played on a PC allowed turning around by just pressing X.
