Perhaps we just come from two very different spots of the internet. The places i've seen, even the sane ones, one would ussually get a warning for just one fairly normal NSFW picture or being 1/3 away from a ban (or both), depending on the forum's system, but almost never a permanent ban, perhaps a warning and a temporarely one, though. (Of course its a different story if it was a forum for kids, or simply exessive quantities of it, or simply something THAT extreme.)

Hm, the rules may be a bit vague and broad, but they where fairly clear to me, with some common sense. Unless lack of common sense is the issue here for the users that infringe on the rules. I guess more specific rules wont hurt anyone but i dont see a significant need for them either.
Unless it makes moderating that much more difficult, it seems easy enough to me, but i guess its hard to judge without an example.

Hm, a permanent ban seems a bit exessive for someone who just posted NSFW content, while assumingly not infringing the first impression rule.

Doesnt help that the NSFW rule lets the moderators pick bans or warnings on their leisure, given the nature of human error, this may be too much. I suppose best way to deal with it is to keep a set punishment on certain rules. Though this will either need judgement and/or approval by Mike and the mods in general or the whole forums having a say in it (though i guess thats essentially happening right now :P), because rules dont mean much if no-one wants to follow them.

If you ask me, that whole thing might as well be an extra discussion point in here for now, perhaps something agreeable will come out of it. I kinda trust the current mods on these, but i also found that particular bit of judgement a bit much, hard to pick sides on this one...

Hm, dont frequent MM8BDM forums that much so your name unfortunately didn't come to mind, Korby. :P

Hm, instant bans on acting improperly once seems a bit... unneccesairly and harsh. Perhaps a 2 or 3 strike system, at most. Not like we're getting that many misbehaving kids here anyway, though.
Not to mention Mike already implemented a 'if you make a bad/offensive introduction (if you're a new user) you get banned' rule, to keep the less mature and, uh, capable out. Though this rule rarely needed enforcing i believe.

Normally i'd say im all up for giving moderators strict guidelines and behaviour protocol when doing their moderation business, but i dont quite feel that the mods here (or rather, it seems to be just Ivory, right now, and maybe occasionally Brotoad) really need these. So far their judgement was rarely questionable, and almost never bad.
If Mike's planning on getting larger amounts of mods, though, then the situation changes. Large groups always need some coordination.

I rarely see any hostilities against new users, though its occasionally there, ussually its the types that are proud of making something relatively simple and/or bad and start advertising it much to the dismay of the more experienced members. Not sure if new rules will help the tendacy of such users to yell at the newbies, but it might be worth a try. I just hope this wont grow out to be a 'be kind to people or get banned' rule, though. No-one likes those, sometimes you need to vent or be a dick to prove your point. :P

As for the forum reorganizations, eh, no comment i suppose. What could possibily go wrong if some exessive stuff gets removed and revamped a bit.

Well thats good to hear, i suppose. 8 Minutes is still rather long if you compare it to the 1-2 minute wait time one needs to find a non-full mvm server via the browser but it should help alot in getting multiple friends in one server.

Hm, does there happen to be any kind of TF2 group for Cutstuff on steam? If i can help it i'd rather try MvM out with some cutstuff people first rather then run the decent chance of running into a complete dick that demands this or that and kicks people.

110
Well i dont think the updates improved the matchmaking systems any bit, fortunately it doesnt matter with the server browser around.

Dont think there's any demand on Cutstuff for a MvM server though. Not to mention it would be quite hard to get a 24/7 server going on for just Cutstuff users. I'd host one thats up for 8-10 hours during european times (and location) whenever i get back from work, but is there even any demand at all...?

Hm, assuming the server can handle sending the extra 20+ bot information to 6 players, wich is alot less then TF2 normally requires, but still potentially laggy...

The Ghoul's Forest / Re: The Ghoul's Forest - What is it?

Too bad he never seemingly finished it, would have loved to see his reaction to the good ol dead baby pictures and whatnot the Yurei basically mind-rapes her victims to death with.

112
I've heard MvM servers arent as demanding with only 6 players and 20+ bots, but so far i've only messed about and practiced with one friend on my server, so who knows how it would go with a few more. As long as their ping isnt too high, in any case. But so far he only started lagging briefly twice in the several hours of playing.

Might get alot laggier with the spammier enemies though, god those giant demomen where so damn loud and laggy when it comes to FPS rate, when they all start firing at once.

113
Well after some practice with a friend, perhaps it might be time to try it out in public servers. Does anyone happen to know a few friendly public servers that dont attract any of those 'do X or get kicked' types which always want to win and kick anyone who would hinder that in the slightest? Just good ol playing for fun and TRYING to win, not trying to make it a outright quarantee.

There's probaly no server around frequented or even hosted by people from here? Though i guess i could make my own one as well if needed, it would atleast avoid the odd horror story of kicking and horrible players. :P
Just hope any suggested servers are actually easily found in the list of thousands of TF2 servers.

Edit: Damn people hate the automatic matchmaking system for its extreme delays and connecting to passworded/bugged/bad servers, seems like manual joining is the way to go for now.

As far as im aware its certainly no pay to get ahead in line kind of service. From what the game tells me its basically a Valve server where you earn some kind of rare loot while playing roughly the same game with possibily a few other things to it. Only reason why they might be more playable to some then other servers is because the free servers are being flooded by players, because obviously no-one has to pay, while the other servers require a purchase to use and will see alot less players because of this.

The lag from the flood of players should go away if it hasnt already, as the item server and everything is working again for me. Hell if i know WHAT kind of rare loot drops, but knowing valve its probaly some rediculous hat or other ornament for bragging rights, no harm in that as long as it doesnt get into pay-to-win territory by making weapons only accesible via this method.

You may simply want to wait out the lag. I dont know if it helps but i could host a server from here and allow only Cutstuff people and their friends in, or something, assuming i've set up everything right...

Since the first time i joined the CS server its always been survival, dont know if he ever hosted creative before that, though. I'd rather have survival though, in creative mode i'd probaly be done with in hours or end up with zero creative ideas left, while in survival there's more things to pay attention to then building fancy gigantic objects, and i guess the time taken to build it just gives it more value.

Edit: So when exactly is the new server going up? Are there any technical difficulties i wonder, or is Cutman just taking a bit of a break?

One part of the 1.3.1 changelist does confuse me:

Quote from: "1.3.1 Changelist"
? Added SRV Record Lookup support
? Different subdomains of one domain can handle different servers via different port numbers.
? Service name should be "minecraft"; i.e. "_minecraft._tcp.example.com".
Would this mean we need to change the adress into something new in order to locate the Cutstuff server? Havent checked if the current way via tekkit still works, though the server always had a habit of displaying itself as offline, so that doesnt help.

117
I suppose a regular server would work best, dont mind the usual addons that add locks and stuff and fix some issues, though i've kinda had it with tekkit, just too much stuff flying around. :P

Hope the next world is going to be fairly decent, and not too flat or too high, a nice in-between works best. Some changes and updates will make for interesting mechanics.
Edit: Hm, making books sounds like a pain now though, cows where always a bit... annoying.

118
If i recall correctly Tgot and Lego where messing with that small shack near my house, if thats your house, cant quite remember...

Suppose its been interesting though i cant find the interest to log in having done all reasonable stuff i could find, and Tekkit is such an incredibily large combined mess of items, its a bit too overwhelming to try and take in... Doesnt help that those two mentioned above have the tendacy to mess with the overworld in general with cheap alchemy stuff and whatnot, though no-one seems to like the frequent rain, nor mind it when people cancel it out. :P

Some godamned hooligan stole 18 cans of food, a fucking Terraformer and all my bread... And the chests where supposedly protected too. Unless adding [name] tags that dont have any active groups or functions like acces to [Operators] or [Everyone] cause the chest to be unlocked... So far they where named [Food] and [Maintanance] or something like that.

Sheesh cant trust anyone these days... Hope the renamed chests actually stop thieves now...

Edit: And my two other chests with the same name usage for garden stuff werent safe either. Strangely none of the chests without signs had any signs of being robbed but i highly doubt this was a bug... Seems like there's some damn thieves about...

120
Ah, you where quick on it, happen to read the sign i planted at your house? Just hope the new yet temporarely world will be decent, with either some different biome's not too far from eachother or a nice ice biome.

Edit: And i think there's a clear majority up for it, so its probaly a matter of time?
