If it is essentially a vanilla minecraft world with alot of extra recipies and machines/factories to build, i suppose its worth a try, even if it replaces the world, as i dont think anyone's giving it much use at this point, though i coul be wrong, as i havent checked recently.

Is there any kind of tutorial/start up page for this whole thing though? Seems fairly complicated, or atleast full of recipies that some info would be handy on.

If you mean needing to buy the game in order to get in with premium, then yeah.
Its quite worth the money though, find the right communities and servers and there's hundreds of hours of playtime without getting bored, past the initial singleplayer.

Hm, and is that going to be hosted seperately or replacing the main server? Dont mind giving it a spin if its on a seperate server, but if you're planning on replacing the main one you may want to ask around a bit more. Personally im fairly neutral about it, i suppose, cant be that bad from what i hear.

Sounds interesting from what i could find, though i cant find any detailed information on what it exactly is in great detail though, i take it its some kind of extra mechanics and tools mod?
Does it replace minecraft entirely or just add more stuff to work with? And assuming it has alot of complicated mechanisms and recipies, does the damn thing have a list of these or a wiki or something?

Hm, sounds like if it passes it'll be on a seperate server, instead of replacing the current one? Atleast i have no doubt whatever it is i'll have enough time to mess around with it untill the next update, as they seem to be delaying it forever...

Well im pretty sure everyone got whitelisted by now, else it might be worth bugging mike about it in a PM if it still hasnt been resolved.

Not many people on this server so far, with some more it would have been fairly easy to start another village of sorts, the starting area may be an island but its large enough to support whatever people decide to show up, i guess. Do kinda miss the winter biome, it was perfect for that village one or two worlds ago what was hands down the best village made so far, especially those wonderful ice roads, effecient and good-looking.

Edit: Hm, where's most of the people anyway? Kinda empty without them.

Dont think i've ever heard of that feature before. This server is (mostly) a vanilla survival server with a few mods, such as ones that allow you to lock your chest and alter and/or interact with some blocks in new ways. Though i forgot the details on that one.

For the locking one, just slap a sign on a chest, furnace, dispenser, etc, and follow the instructions it posts.
If you want to connect it to doors put it above it or next to the door on the front or back side, and probaly the same rules for other similar door-like objects. Though you'll manually need to type in [Private] on the sign when placing it near doors, for it to lock the door. Handy thing about locked stuff is, no-one but the admin or owner can break them, not even Creepers! There's more to it but this is enough for one post i guess. :P

Edit: Oh, and if you cant get in you should ask to be whitelisted in this topic, so you can get in. Griefing issues returned the almighty whitelist, so far no griefers, i suppose.

I guess that will do just fine to kill time. Already started working on a house close to bik's house, its a bit more ambitious then most of my first houses i guess, its roughly next to his place into the mountain. Always had a thing for underground houses, i guess, easy to decorate, no wires or stuff to hide on the outside.

Though now i'd better sleep so i can still wake up for work, Minecraft always just keeps me going, just one more block, just one more... Heh.
Edit: I also noticed its not on 24/7, i suppose that would have been nice to mention as well. And when's it on and off atleast.

127
I guess that would kill the time though it would be handy to know beforehand what gamemode it runs, perhaps any special mods/rules or maps and the likes. And what version, the latest beta seems pretty stable as far as im aware, and adds the nifty trip wires and all. Might have a few avoidable crash bugs though.

Hm, and if i hear correctly there's a new beta every week i'd imagine with all the bug fixing they did with some hope its released one or two weeks later, minimally. Plenty of time to mess around on a temporarely server i suppose.
(Oh, and i hope you didnt use 'Large biomes', they're far larger then just 'large', they're HUGE, larger then a full map scroll can display!)

128
Seems like it. Though at this point, its been so godamn long, i wouldnt mind if the server was made public again while using the latest beta, though probaly without the large biome's thing as its simply too large, as shown above. I dont think there's much content anyway that still needs to be implemented that we would otherwise miss in the next beta(or God forbid, an actual release!). I guess even if so a quick world reset wouldnt be the end of it all.

Ah well, i suppose that wont stop me from atleast keeping it functional. Just in case people do want to play the original.
Hm, is there support for the new port on server browsers yet? I've updated my IDE though nothing there so far. Or is it still being worked on?

Hm, with 'time to move on and make something better' are you potentially hinting at more Doom mods? I guess making a innovative new wad for the new port when its out and somewhat succesfull to celebrate it would be a good kickstart for it. As im sure they'll add more functions and capabilities to it.

Speaking of, whats its player limit? Will it be higher then Skulltag's? (32)

Hm, adding data might fix any potential issues so far. I do recall hearing they plan, or already did add the important Skulltag items and stuff into the new port so it would be compatible to the masses of ST WADs, but yeah, if that somehow failed, putting in data first ougta help.

If there happens to be a problem that needs fixing anyway just make a topic on the Ghouls Forest forum i guess, didn't ask to develop it to do nothing to it (if you ignore the lack of updates, there was simply no demand with NS taking over the popularity).
Though i havent touched ST or the new port in ages lately...

Just in case you somehow missed it, i assume the CS server is still being used privately. Havent bothered checking since a update STILL hasn't been released yet. STILL! After so long... Meh.
So in that case it will probaly be turned back to normal once a update happens.

So yeah, anyone know when the next update is to be expected?
Atleast they've added some fun stuff, in particular Trip Wires sound very, VERY usefull, hehe... And books should have tons of uses, personal notes, some kind of journal, perhaps, oh the possibilities. If only it didnt take so damn long.
Hm, did DTD get unbanned yet? I forgot...

Edit: It feels like 2 months and more now since the last update! If i didnt have this project i'd be dead of boredom by now! :P

Edit: Now it feels like 3 months. Though more importantly, assuming the large biomes function that comes with world generation doesnt get changed much, it may be better off not using it. As when i used it i basically got an mostly useless mountain snow world from it with no other biome in the map's range, though i would possibily stumble upon one if i roam far enough...

I guess the only worries so far is going to be having to use a different Master Server, or use it without one at all. If that is the case atleast server browsers fortunately support looking for ST/whatever games as custom servers looking at the specified IP directly instead of hearing about it from a Master Server; so atleast we can have one big topic listing IP's and ports of people who host stuff frequently so they can be added as custom servers to check for.

Hm, still, why THAT name? I know first hand how hard it is to think of good names, it can be really hard... But they have like 5-10 people at staff minimally i'd wager, and if not that a whole forum to take name suggestions from, and they come up with this!? I wish it was less long and clunky and more short and sweet, like the name Skulltag. It cant be that hard can it?

Would love to hear how the master server issue is going to be dealt with. Perhaps the new port's(i cant for the love of god remember the name properly, see!? Its too long!) master server will take both ST and... blah's... games and display them.

Heh, yeah, all the bots do is walk to the enemy while shooting, and strafe around it, while staying out of melee range (most of the time), if getting too close. They're pretty good at dodging stuff from players though.

Checked the files but i couldnt find any credits for the music, he got some of his resources for GVH from Newgrounds though, it might possibily be somewhere there but i suppose you're best off asking him. Private messaging him should work, might take a while for him to answer though.

Anything Goes / Re: Are online games a risk for the PC??
« on: May 20, 2012, 03:21:35 PM »
Well i suppose there's always the risk of downloading infected WAD's, but those issues are extremely uncommon and any half-decent virus scanner should work around that risk.
I do recall at the very least Wadseeker removes files that proved to be useless after download (aka none of the needed files found within).

Does remind me of a minor issue that happened to me, ever since i installed Steam the computer randomly but not too frequently started having missing boot files resulting in being unable to start up, safe for putting in a CD and fixing it like it suggests, if anyone knows a way to get rid of that issue. Dont think it was intentional on Steam's part though, perhaps just bad timing, heh, or the damn thing's getting too old...

Hm, seems to be true alright: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Large_Biomes

I'd say give it a try, if people want to live/build in a specific biome/region they wont be hindered by sudden different biomes, it might also encourage seperate villages (which i personally dont mind as long as travel time isnt too damn long). Atleast it should encourage use of rail roads and such a bit more. Cant possibily get much worse then that particular mountain world (i think) that outright hated us. :P
