Mega Man Discussion / Re: Random annoying things in all mega man games.
« on: December 23, 2014, 01:05:07 PM »
As much as I love Battle Network 3....

BN3: Navi Customizer. I fsaggrg hate that thing. All those upgrades that I'd like to use but can't because of my intolerance to fumble around with whatever I had before and likely end up not using what I had. It just isn't fun to use and have around. I would have much preferred an easier way to not only use the upgrade parts, but actually use a lot of them.

BN4-6: I haven't played or seen, but the fact that they keep the Navi Customizer angers me.

Thanksgiving is non-existent in England but whatever. Thank you CutmanMike for creating the brilliant FPS that is Megaman 8-bit Deathmatch, and for creating the Cutstuff community. Also thank you to the Cutstuff community for being generally very good as a social experience, it has made me happy.

Also thank you OJ for inviting/summoning trumpet skelton of the abyss.

hehehhehehehheh

Crystal Mines.

It was on a controller shaped console thing that you plug into a TV and start playing. On this one was 15 different full games on it, one of which was Crystal Mines, a game that I can honestly claim as one of my childhood favourites. I am the only one to know of its existence.

Mega Man Discussion / His name was changed because Rock = A drug
« on: November 24, 2014, 04:42:02 PM »
"Megaman" does sound a bit cheesy honestly, so I have slight trouble saying it out loud sometimes. I don't get that problem with the name "Rockman" however, which sounds more original.

Based on this I slightly prefer his Japanese name.

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Least Favorite MMBN boss?
« on: November 21, 2014, 03:33:55 PM »
These "too hard to hit" reasons don't feel all that justified to me. Honestly DrillMan.EXE is one of my favourite netnavis. The battle felt original and enjoyable. Yes, his battle strategy makes him difficult to hit, but that only meant you had to focus and think about what will work in this knew situation (aka adapting), and he only had 600 hp which isn't a lot for late game boss.

There aren't many BN boss battles that I don't like, although I don't care much about GravityMan.EXE. There just wasn't much going for his design or the battle against him really (aside from the floor or ceiling gimmick which was cool).

They're wearing scarfs and scarfs are cool.

And I actually prefer Amy's design in Sonic Boom compared to the original games. Her new design makes her look more suited to action and adventure.

Maps / Hi.

Since BookOfDobson is a newer member, he hasn't seen all the expansions that are aspired yet never come to pass. Rozark, he was not advertising, he was just using an example to get his point across that it doesn't always need to take infinite time to get the maps done.

Some people a lot better than others when it comes to making good layouts and designs, and even those that can finish making good quality maps have to face the bombardment of nitpicking and demotivation from those who would rather tear the mappers apart.

A few of the maps for this map pack did end up getting finished, but for what we aspired to achieve (about 10 maps per release?), there was too much for the few of use to achieve. I remember how much I was looking forward to fully creating the map for Clashman's stage in Rockman 2 Minimum, yet I've always lacked the ability of getting the designs in my head onto Doom Builder, and could never get far with that map. Heck, in all my years of mapping I've only finished 1 map that I'm satisfied with. Unless you're great with level design, mapping is usually too big of a task with maps for expansions.

As for what else in this expansion was done. Weapons? Yeah, those were easy. Considering how creating them in huge quantity is a lot more possible than maps, a rom hack weapons pack might be worth considering.

I guess this thread may as well be locked seeing how there's no hope of this project ever being started back up, along with many other expansions. Mods, do as you wish with this thread.

Sadly, this project has ended up being yet another one of those projects that is highly ambitious and full of hope, yet ends up being far more than what it capable from any of us.

It's doubtful that this will ever see the light of day any time soon.

That and the European box art for Megaman 3. I'm curious to see how it'll turn out.

You could have the weapon be firing constant invisible high speed projectiles at everywhere in the players view, and if one of those projectiles hits an enemy, the projectile sends back an inventory item flag to the player that says an enemy has just been spotted.

Remember to give the weapon some sort of timer after the twitch moment so that it doesn't happen repeatedly, and also remember that too many projectiles that do too much stuff will cause a lot of slowdown so be careful.

Speaking of pokemon cosplay, I sometimes see pictures of people with pokemon suits buuuuuttt where exactly is the best place to get these?

Should point out that I'm not looking for one of Pikachu. I have many other favourites.

In my Pokemon Y playthrough I saw a Ralts early on. Thought it looked really cool so I kept it on the team.

Stayed with me 'til the Elite Four. Gardevoir was like the second best member of my team.

Also why are people referring to a species as a she? That sounds a bit factually incorrect.

Actually I'm not too sure.

I guess I've just had a lot of anger built up lately because of how a lot of modern game developers rarely add in things such as hard modes to satisfy challenge seeking gamers like me.

Yeah just ignore me.

General Gaming Discussion / "Play online" is no solution for me.

Mario Kart has also ALWAYS appealed to "casual" players. MK Wii didn't sell 35 million by being hardcore. I even got my own parents who never play video games into Double Dash back in the day.
I'm more so comparing Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii to Mario Kart 7 (and based on what I've heard, Mario Kart 8). Mario Kart 7 offers pretty much no challenge whatsoever, and that's not just me having got better at games. The AI in MK7 are essentially always in easy mode, and I've only ever not won a GP 3 times at most, which is not something I could ever pull off with MKDS and MKWii.

The only way Mario Kart 7 could ever give me a challenge is if I was to play online, but series such as Mario Kart and Smash Bros. are series that I couldn't care less about when it comes to online play. Playing with AI players has a better sense of racing against the actual characters, but in MK7, there's the addition of effortlessly champing every Grand Prix I do, which gives no satisfaction of overcoming a difficult challenge.

My problem isn't that MK7+8 are casual, it's that they've become far too casual when compared to the previous titles.
