Mega Man Discussion / Re: Megaman Unlimited
« on: July 15, 2013, 09:46:45 PM »
Well, I finally picked it up, been fiddling around.  Defeated Yo-Yo and Comet, and reached just about everyone else (Except for Rainbow, he's too flamboyant). Slowly but surely moves my might!

I think the difficulty in every review ever is overexaggerated.  There are a few unfair bullshit moments (Like, I dunno, all of Glue-Man's fight), but it's blown way, way out of proportion.  Rockman No Constancy punched harder than this, and I know all of you liked that.  I'm not feeling so much of the wonky physics claim, and plot and graphics feel like they were meant to be in a Mega Man game.  The enemies aren't unfair and the fact that the player cannot used charged shots was clearly taken into account, as almost every enemy dies in 1-4 hits.  Other than aforementioned unfair bullshit moments and the atrocious boss theme, I like this game and I am having fun playing it.  But I also had fun playing SFxMM.  Ah, who am I kiddin', I'm a total sucker for challenge.

As an aside, (Spoiler does not contain spoilers)

What's BCA CHAOS?
He's talking to me.  Much to my chagrin, people call me Chaos, and as of this Friday my Q&A questions appeared in BCA, or Bass Comic Adventures.

But that's getting off topic.

I showed the Worlds Collide weapons to some dudes over on Sprites, Inc., and one guy said he'd really appreciate it if they were labeled.

I dunno how I'm ever supposed to feel good about my pixel art with you around here, Geno.  You are the best at this, no contest.
Seeing all that Roll in one place makes me wish Roll Fever was a reality...

You are quite an ambitious lad, Geminibro.  I think you should try to allocate your focus onto one major project at a time (Saxton Party, then this), but that's just my style.  Your ambition is exciting and I do like it!

If you need any help with character design (Designing aspects of their character, that is, not actually physically making their sprites), I'd be happy to do so.

Okay, what exactly do you mean by Puppeteer Classes?  As in, our only method of attack would be to summon tiny puppet versions of ourselves that do the attacking for us?  Please elaborate.  Give more details.  Better explain what would and wouldn't be allowed.
Because I might be interested.  Maybe.

Say, one more thing before we put this one in the vault...
Whatever was the deal with the Taco item?  It never came into play, but I presume it had an actual purpose.

All I have to say is, I am really, really, really glad I blew myself up when I did.

Maps / Re: Sonic 3 & Knuckles Maps.

Sure, I'll give it a spin!  Overall, here's what I think:

ANGEL ISLAND ZONE ACT I
You started off strong with a surprisingly good-looking map!  Textures could probably use some work here and there, but overall it's surprisingly good for a first map.  The weapons are fairly well-balanced (Though cutting two Eddies down to one would be smart), and Health and Energy Capsules are fairly well-balanced if a little on the scant side.  The Aqua-Man prop doesn't need to be there, though, and shooting him kind of breaks him. In addition, you've got lighting issues in your little cave area (Everyone ever will tell you that on a normal map, 255 lighting everywhere is the smart move).  Feels like a few things were drawn at random rather than having a method to the madness, but I'll write it off as a fair first try.  Looks like it has potential.

ANGEL ISLAND ZONE ACT II
After your first map, I was severely disappointed with how this one looked and felt.  To start, it didn't feel like I was on Angel Island anymore.  I understand Act II is supposed to be the stage on fire and all that nonsense, but instead of that, I was greeted with some ugly Heat-Man walls and cacti everywhere.  Weapons are not well-distributed and there's not a Health/Energy Capsule in sight.  The only things I'd say that are worth salvaging on this map is the little platforming bit to get up to the Proto Buster.

OVERALL
A not-bad start, I suppose.  The stages still need some rebalancing and perhaps a more organized layout (*Cough*Removecacticlutter!*Wheeze*), and they may benefit from seeing textures from, well, what they're actually supposed to be.  I understand it's a beta, so I'm not counting you out of the running just yet.

As an aside, screenshots.  Way more people will grab your map and give it a spin if you put up some pictures of it.

I beat this guy once a long time ago with Pump-Man and Strike-Man.
I decided to give him a spin again today while I was here.  He knew Mighty the Armadillo and Vivian (He even knew she was sometimes called a man), but I got him again with old Magman from Kirby 64.  It took him like 90 questions before he gave up.

If I can vote for not one of those I'd like to nominate this.

Well, those sprites will be painfully out of place (Wreck-It Ralph's sprites were clearly designed to be 16-Bit), but he's the only character who I'd really want to see here, so I guess I'll vote for Wreck-It Ralph.
...Aaand it seems he wins by a landslide.

I'm not quite sure where to drop this, so I guess I'll put it here.

So this weekend I got bored and did an alone playthrough of MMSPSiN, as Roll on Hard.  Take that, Zerokk, you didn't think I could do it...
...Somehow this narrative came of it too, in front of a live chatroom audience.  Some of them enjoyed reading it, and I'd hate for it to be lost in the sands of time...perhaps it'll double as proof of my success anyhow?  I hope you enjoy reading it.  Or you could not.  I mean, it's your choice.

I've also completed a similar run as Fake-Man, though I acquired no evidence of that run.

So I gave myself a Redesign.

Anyone else like it?
Eyepatches still do not work that way
Looks like a black sweatband going around your forehead with a flap hanging down to cover your eye.  Eyepatches aren't like that; they're more like straps.
Here, have some visuals:

Now get back out there and bring me an eyepatch that looks like an eyepatch.
