Skins & Bots etc / Re: Geno's Stuff Shop (NEW SKIN! Piano!)
« on: September 07, 2013, 05:56:37 PM »
Hey, I was actually thinking about making this skin!
Of course, I was going to take the long way around and NES-ify her spritesheet from the game based upon my NES-ing of the game's Roll appearance, but still!

Thanks for taking an idea off my table, I suppose.

MM8BDM Discussion / Are These Resources Public Domain?
« on: September 07, 2013, 04:12:49 PM »
I've taken and distributed a lot of MM8BDM's sprites from the core for my own and others' projects.  But I've never actually stopped to ponder what exactly MM8BDM's public sharing policy is.

The people here don't seem to care that much, but I'm curious now—and so are some other people who would like to use MM8BDM's resources for their own projects.  What exactly is the policy on using MM8BDM's resources?

...I should utter a thing about this.
If the Twisted Sword is useless then it certainly isn't my fault.  In my original image CLR's playstyle was designed to equally balance use of the sword and the magic blasts.  The sword was supposed to be strong with the disadvantage of leaving you slowed if you missed like an idiot.  The magic was designed to be weakish, primarily for picking people off, but one could gamble on its status effects if they felt lucky.  I can't verify this claim as the current version of Tea Party I have crashes upon being loaded, but I still think that half of my things were coded incorrectly/are unfinished.

To be honest, I hate the idea of redesigning CLR.  Yes, I hate the rework idea above me right now.  It would ruin the playstyle I planned for her, the spell-sword class that is apparently a taboo that NO ONE EVER EVEN BOTHERED TO TELL ME ABOUT.  If she stayed, she would not fundamentally change.  Which is what everyone will hate.  So there's only one solution here.

...That's it.  I—I'm done.  CF/CLR was made; everyone hated her; there is no further point in her existence.  I am hereby retracting my class from the Tea Party.  Commence with your merrymaking.

Skins & Bots etc / Re: CF's Small Skin Shop - Rhythm Redux

A while ago, after much pestering from his peers, the creator of Bass Comic Adventures gave Rhythm (And, if you've noticed, Bass as well) a new appearance to change them up from being simple Mega Man edits while still having a body structure similar to the Mega Man they were based upon.  In light of this, I've updated Rhythm's MM8BDM skin.  Didn't bother to take any screenshot previews of this, but the new skin effectively looks like this.

General Gaming Discussion / Mighty Number Nine: Inafune Strikes Back
« on: September 01, 2013, 12:55:10 AM »
There's been a lot of talk about where Mega Man is going lately, and the general consensus seems to be "nowhere fast."  With his recent inclusion in Smash4, unsureness has stirred up once more.  Regardless of whether or not CapCom can be trusted, however, I think it would be in everyone's best interest to know:  Inafune has not abandoned us.

The video explains it best, but basically, Mega Man's back—just under a brand new face.  There's a Kickstarter going on right now for the new game, and it's got a bit of a price tag associated with it, so I felt it would be a good idea to spread it as quickly as possible.  Are you excited to hear about this?

Mega Man Discussion / Re: Now Hiring! (Megaman Fangame)

To be deathly honest, I am less than thrilled.

I feel like a lot of unnecessary flair that doesn't even look that cool to begin with were attached to the contest Robots—Sketch and Dragon, specifically.  Did you have to butcher the design of his beret and add those dumb-looking palette shoulders?  Did you have to give Dragon-Man a look that screams "Snake-Man except he's a dragon?"  And then Tremor who looks so boring my eyes skip over him, and the "what" designs of Casino and Borealis...I can't even.

I was looking forward to the game before I saw these.  I should learn to stop having hope.

Skins & Bots etc / Re: CF's Small Skin Shop - Rockmen R Music

Wasn't that the game that was (apparently) C&D'd by Capcom because the author was selling it?
That'd be the one (Though in truth the game wasn't good enough to be sold)!  Given its state, I consider it like any other free fangame.

Hey guys, I got another thing for you!  No, it's not my skin competition skin getting released early, stop dashing towards the Download button.

I recently picked up and played (And beat) Rockmen R:  Dr. Wily's Counterattack.  Couldn't help but notice that all the OST was lying loose in the download package, so I grabbed everything that looked like it could be considered a song and stuffed it into a music pack.
Note that the game's music is not 8-bit and some tracks are arguably unfitting to a Mega Man game.  If you're unfamiliar with Rockmen R's OST, this YouTuber has videos of himself playing the whole game through, which by extension also has the music.
This is also a rather large music pack, with the songs being saved in .mp3 format, some lengthier than others.  Should you actually still want it, here are the codes and download link.

If someone else could compress the size of this music pack (Or just make 8-Bit covers for the whole OST—*Dodges bullet*) I would be overjoyed.

Projects & Creative / Re: TMK4's Workshop (2 Projects Underway)
« on: August 23, 2013, 12:52:40 AM »
I feel obliged to toss my two cents into the ring.  Assume that if I don't mention it, I feel I have nothing to say about it.

Saxton Hale
It is my belief that every Boss Battles mod like this should have a simplified, down-to-earth sort of Boss to it, not necessarily as their mascot, but some form of pick-up-and-play sort of character.  Saxton Hale fits this archetype rather nicely.  I think he gets too much of a bad rap for being the template for everyone else's lame, unoriginal boss (With Cave Johnsons here and there).  I think we should keep him—for the time being, anyway.
Ghost of Starman, Christian Brutal Sniper, and Ninja Spy
And these are the copycats.  OHKO melees all around and an Astro Crush clone, an OHKO range, and a lame smoke bomb as their rages.  In TF2 the differences were actually somewhat important.  Here it makes for simplistic, boring clone-based gameplay.  Unless they're rebuilt from the ground up, I say replace them.  The latter would probably be easier.
Ra Thor
All I really have to say is an echo of what was already said.  The hypnotism needs work if he's going to keep it at all.  Other than that, my only comment is, perhaps we should have more Mega Man hales.
Slenderman
A lot of the time I don't even want to fight this guy when he appears.  The fight goes on for so long and it's not worth running away from him or shooting him.  Might be a good idea to give Slender—and timer bosses like him in general—the axe.
Quote and Curly
Even though they don't stand up to my original idea for them (Which, looking back on it, really wasn't so great), I am quite pleased with these bosses.  As it stands they're probably one of my favorite bosses in the mod.

Considering my current standings in both Under Siege and 8BDM 4a, I don't believe I would be able to create a valuable product from scratch while sharing time between three projects, so I hope you would understand my concern.
As for Beetle Jet...I never could get that working, so I will have work to do later...
Quote from: "SmashTheEchidna"
As much as I would like to contribute, I'm not really sure what I can do for this expansion at the moment...

I haven't done anything for Hockeyman STILL, so someone else can do him.
Quote from: "Magnet Dood"
I think interested waned here because Rokko Chan fell into obscurity, because everyone started fangasming over Unlimited.
Quote from: "Knux"
That map list is outdated. It's been months since I dropped this expansion.

Well, this plan backfired thoroughly and completely.  I thought my devteam was just laying dormant; apparently they've collapsed out from underneath me!  Seems we need some fresh blood...so pretty much anything is helpful, I suppose...please don't let this die...

"You make a good point, explosive weapons are dangerous...normally we'd have Mega Man on an issue like this quickly.  Normally he needs a few hours, a day tops to prepare...no excuse for someone like Proto Man or Bass, though.  Wonder where they are..."
Over his quiet, mundane conversation with Sword-Man, Fake-Man was able to hear the sound of approaching footsteps...or, rather, stomps.  He ducked behind the pile of sandbags that was making his barricade, and as he approached he grabbed his hand and pulled him behind, pointing the Fake Revolver at his head.  "Give me three good reasons why I should think you're the real Grenade-Man."

W.I.P Forum / Re: [EXPANSION] Rokko Chan - Expansion Pack Limbo...
« on: August 20, 2013, 01:05:01 AM »

The topic title says it well enough.  Rokko Chan is all tied up in Expansion Pack Limbo.

A lot of good Expansion Packs wind up here.  It is not unlike being buried alive; the initial hype of the Expansion Pack dies off, people stop trickling in to work, the remaining devteam gets demotivated, distracted, or flat-out bored of it, and the whole thing stagnates.  Many good Expansion Packs have fallen victim to Expansion Pack Limbo, and it seems Rokko Chan will only be another victim.
...But those other Expansion Packs weren't headed by me.

What no Mega Man Rocks never happened what are you talking about
We are so damn close to being done, it's not even funny.  I am too persistent and too stubborn to give up now.  I will beat my devteam until their morale improves, and I will keep annoying you guys until this is done. Grab your Rokko Busters; we aren't dead yet!

Skins and bots might as well already be done; some weapons are unclaimed but we already have a small army of people who volunteered to make weapons; what we really need is more mappers.  Considering helping?  Don't hesitate!  If you can provide for us, get up here and help!  Only your support can make this Expansion Pack a reality!

Resources / Re: Mega Man Hacks (resources from those)
« on: August 19, 2013, 10:05:54 PM »
I have a somewhat interesting request for you.  Rip the spritesheets of the eight Robot Masters from the fundamentally broken "ROM Hack," Probertmang.  If you missed the backstory, an acquaintance of mine put together Rockman EXILE, Robertman 2, Mega Man in Java Island, and Proto Man in Mega Man 2 in order to create...well, this abomination.  It's laughably unplayable and honestly kind of stupid, but we might be able to use the sprites for something, so ripping them might help us.
You're also welcome to rip anything else you find interesting; though we won't have any use for anything else.
