It's been a while since I did any mod work for this game. The last couple of mods I did were Roll and Kirby's Adventure, the latter of which was never completed due to lost data. I did my best with Roll to try and make a neat and polished mod, even if it only changed the player character. I was satisfied with that and didn't really intend to touch RM7 FC anymore.

BUT THEN

suddenly a flying inspiration came and hit me in the back of the head. When I got up, I had a realization of a new RM7FC project. A sequel to my Roll mod, I present you...

Skirt Girls!

One day Roll and a few other girls are out on a fun trek in order to search for the ancient, legendary Loch Ness Monster to see if it really exists. During their search, the girls discover a cave beneath the lake where the mythical monster, real as day, rested. The Nessie was woken by their excitement and became very angry that its sleep had been disturbed. In revenge, it decided to wage a war against the world!

The Loch Ness Monster used its strange magic powers to brainwash the girls to terrorize the world. Along with the mind control, it granted the girls individual skirts charged with various magic powers, as well as an army of strange creatures. With these super skirts, new powers and critters, the girls scatter about and send the world into chaos!

Except for Roll, who was unaffected by the Nessie's magic. Being the only one left, it's up to Roll to stop the Skirt Girls and ease the Nessie's rage!
======
The eponymous skirts-
Polka is lively but bossy!
Frilly is naive but very sweet!
Kilt is calm and quiet,
and Tutu is light on her feet!
Mini is popular and haughty.
Pencil is smart but works all week.
Grass is honest and kind.
Hilo looks scary but is actually meek!

======
Aside from obvious graphical changes, this mod offers modified level layouts using the Map Editor. Although the levels cannot be changed completely, this allows for some different challenges and an overall fresh feeling for the game!

This mod will also feature new sounds and new music, each track being replaced with something new to represent the changed levels and other features.

Also, after getting to the end of a stage and defeating the mind controlled gal, Roll will befriend and recruit her, having her use the new skirt powers for good instead of evil. This way you can play as all the skirt girls in order to stop to evil Nessie!

Updates and video previews will come as progress is made!~

the very concept just sounds like the product of a lazy, whimsical, apathetic mind with no regard for culinary art
and yet it tastes pretty dang good

I'm a lot more detached and distant from the community than I used to be, so I dunno how much I can toss in, but bikdark's original points and sentiments do intrigue me.

I do feel that there is a degree of elitism and circlejerking surrounding the community and its many branches. I've always felt that, truth be told. People badmouthing others in skype groups, people harshly shutting down or mocking more "naive" users, trolling on the game itself, etc. I think it's part of why I've felt less comfortable around most of the groups and have distanced myself from them.

The development team isn't really above that either, from my memory. I recall times when certain suggestions or complaints would be posted on the boards only for them to be mocked or dismissed in the devteam's group, whether or not they were actually acknowledged on the board itself. I want to say that the team has gotten better about that in recent times as I haven't seen it as much anymore, but then again I'm a lot more absent from the dev team and its discussions these days.

It's kinda weird, though. When I talk to a lot of the people in this community personally, they're all (mostly) nice and decent people. I can think of few people in the community as a whole who I really find bothersome as individuals, in fact. Maybe it's sort of a group influence? Peer pressure? I dunno.

Regardless, regarding the dev team, I don't find it to be that horrible. I've seen a lot of fair and constructive map criticism (some regarding my own map of course) go around, and a lot of heavy debates about the game balance itself, so I don't think things are just being made and thrown in without much regard for the game design.

Those same people then go on to ignore the problems plaguing every gamemode and weapon while simultaneously releasing a whole new horde of imbalanced and unacceptable content for the playerbase to deal with.
Could you provide more specific examples of this issue?

Terminator is kind of a boring "get the item and an OP weapon and then win" gamemode to me. Possession is all sorts of fun with the right number of people, on the other hand, is very intense and a great test of your mobility and mindgames.

That's a rather pudgy Zelda. It's cute.

I love the choice of colors, but if I was going to go with a background like that, I think I'd try texturing it a bit or giving it some patterns.

Well, first of all, that's completely beside the point.

and is that message really that rude? I'm trying not to beat around the bush here. I don't know what much else there is to say. If you want comments, you could ask for some (like jman suggested), but nobody is actually entitled to give you any.

All I'm trying to do here is to be recognized around here, I'm tired of having my posts IGNORED by everyone else!
This falls right back in line with what I just said though. Nobody is obligated to give you any such. You are acting very entitled. Please stop and think about it for a moment.

Also, just because people don't respond to your posts doesn't mean that you are specifically being ignored. I can understand if you're feeling a little bit left out and that makes you upset, but you're being rather childish bout it.

Well, not receiving comments doesn't mean nobody is looking at your stuff. Maybe we don't have anything interesting to say.

This too, of course. I saw your Alex Kidd sprite from a couple of pages back, but I know little about alex kidd and have no interest in it so I didn't have anything to say.

Recognition shouldn't be your motivation for drawing, or anything, really. Your drive to do well at something should be because it's something you feel passionate about.
Thank you! This was a point I was missing to address.

I think it's rare for anyone to get 10 replies. 3 or so seems to be the max.

That said, people are gonna comment on what interests them. To use a couple of examples from the last page, Rui drew a picture specifically for me, so I commented on it in appreciation. I also posted a picture of Nidoqueen, a recognized character amongst most corners of cutstuff and one who starred in a game made by some of the community members. Freeman is familiar and (I guess) interested in the character and commented.

I also posted a colorful drawing of Princess Peach a couple of pages back, though, and got no comments. It happens. Nobody's entitled to take interest in your art, it's a silly thing to whine about.
