MM8BDM Discussion / Why "aimbotting" is unlikely in MM8BDM
« on: November 06, 2012, 03:05:22 PM »
There has been a lot of talk about certain players "aimbotting" lately, so I'm here to show you why aimbotting in MM8BDM is not helpful or likely. The majority of weapons in MM8BDM are weapons that do not move at a fast pace. Aimbotting can only shoot in the place your opponent was when you fired, so if I was to shoot the average player in a game of deathmatch while aimbotting, they would most likely be out of the spot I aimed at. Now, let's act as if we had a fast moving weapon like a rail gun. If you were jumping off a platform and I shot at you while aimbotting with a rail gun, there's a 99.9% chance I will hit you, why? Because that weapon moves at a fast pace. If I  did that with a weapon like Mega Buster, or any weapon for that matter it would miss you. All this supports why players like Fyone, Clay, and Lum most likely do not aimbot, although though I have seen Clay do some odd things any other player wouldn't do with certain weapons while coop spying him, I do think we can say there is a large chance these players DO NOT aimbot.

I suggest you give the badniks outline for more of a 8-bit effect. Everything else looks great.

Neo, don't you think people would complain a lot less about updating your wads so much if you put them on a website like wadhost?
Point. indeed, then people wouldnt have to come to this topic to join my server when its up(also, yay internet at school working so i can write this!)is it as simple as just uploading it to wadhost or would i have to do anything else to do like you said?

I'm actually not sure, I haven't tried using wadhost before. I DO know it's not complicated though, haha. You should try it when you read this, or just when you have extra time.

I would highly, highly suggest you overhaul the entire role system. There is not a single role that does not have some degree (for every role but the Spy, this degree is very high) of potential discrepancies in violations of your 'rules.' Even if you were intending to be present for every single match (which is not feasible if you want this league to be more active than a sloth), the amount of subjectivity required to keep the roles in line is, though I hate the term, ridiculous. If you'd like specifics I'd be happy to oblige, but in general, everywhere you've stated that a role must avoid actively chasing opponents, collecting out-of-the-way weapons, and combat in general under circumstances are the items to which I'm referring. Not to mention that such rigidity in the roles prevents the flexibility that makes CTF teams competitive (that is, good) and fun.

To be constructive, make the roles less rigid. Condense some of the roles (Sniper and Defensive, for example) together and offer a variety of strategies for every role. I could define the roles I believe would fit your framework, which you want to work for both casual and competitive play, but I don't want to do your job for you. You can still require applicants to specify their roles. Any team that would have been successful anyway will be able to organize itself into a cohesive system integrating the predefined roles. To aid this process, you can introduce team captains to your system (this, of course, is not necessary for 2 or probably 3 person teams).

After I read the role system, KD hit the nail on the head. Although I do agree with the role system, I do not think they should have rules. I will consider joining after I speak to OJ about this, though.

The MM8 Expansion is at the end of primary development. All maps, actors, props, etc are more or less accounted for aside from final tweaking. Next up will come play-testing and making fixes based on that feed back. I'm still not going to give any definite release date right now, but I am fairly confident if the team keeps up the good work, then it should be released in approximately a months time. More details later.

As for the CTF contest winners. I'm declaring that all CTF Maps must be in by November. Currently Blue Brawl, Yellow Devil and Beed's maps have been finalized and accepted.

As excited for V3A as I am, that is truly great news. Looking forward to it's release!
