No CTF maps? Whaaaa? Why? I quite liked the CTF maps besides CTF01 which is just basically Charge Man + Flags.

So much for hating symmetry.

I don't hate symmetry I just very much dislike it. Not to mention this is CTF so it's not THAT bad. Atleast Ivory tries to cover it up *Points at Wood mans Revenge*

That's why I dislike all of the CTF maps. Atleast Wood Man's Revenge tries to cover it up...

Woodman's Revenge isn't symmetrical. Big deal.

The CTF Maps are still available to play separately. I'm retooling ICTF03 and getting it into the official release. All I'm doing is separating them out of the mappack so it's smaller in filesize and that hosters won't be confused that there are more than just DM maps in it.

If it's going to be a separate file, could there be more than 3 CTF maps? Having to add a wad just for 3 maps isn't really worth the trouble.

You are right. 2 CTF Maps. ICTF3 is going into official release. There is already an underwater facility, thus I can't get the other in. I was never too fond of my chargeman train ctf map. It sounded really cool in my head. Not so much when I made it. Least if they are their own pack, it's obvious they are ctf maps. It isn't too surprising when I learned that a majority of people who played I-Pack didn't even know there was ctf maps in there.

Um... Yeah...

I only have ICTF02 and 03. No 01.

It sucks cuz I think that would be a nice map.

Oh yes, one thing. Whenever I try to play Train Riders offline, everything seems to run smoothly. Then as soon as I add a bot, the game crashes.

Not sure if my computer is at fault or the map.

Not just you. I can't run it with bots either without it crashing. It worked fine with players only so I didn't view it as a major problem.

I don't have ICTF01 though! It just skips to ICTF02.

Do you have a seperate link to it or something?

I'll give news on my official CTF Maps.
Overhauled Edge of the Dam again. I just killed mandatory platforming all together. Also colored floors to make it even clearer which side is which.
Wood Man's Revenge's lava floor is gone. No more flags getting stuck down there. Also I got rid of beat whistle due to exploits that can be done with it.

Also here's the download link to my duel map entry.

Enjoy.

Ivory... Have you compared the size of the MMCTF08 in v1c versus its size now? I understand the v1d changes (Rushjet area removed) as Rush and the weapons surrounding it were rather unbalanced. However - each update has drastically removed large areas of the map and made the inaccessible. I would guess almost 30% of the original map is inaccessible at this point(margin of error 10% or so) and overall takes away possible weapon/other item spawns. I liked the ability to get Cutter/Pharaoh in one swoop and I'm not going to ask you to undo anything, as I know how frustrating it is for people to say "I don't like new changes!". The old map design made it possible to create weapon/life spawns that required you to go out of your way to get them - the new map is highly compact and now it's like CTF09, in that Rain Flush is the only weapon out of the way. (And CTF09 would probably benefit from hiding Napalm or Shadow Blades). I like maps that are intricate and I feel the changes in some way take away that quality .

If you decide to edit the map again, try to keep accessibility in the map. You can't trim much off now of the map's skeleton, try and recreate any areas you don't like instead of just making them inaccessible. It's like the map was "nerfed" and doesn't hold any advantages to skilled players at this point- which I don't think is the direction you want to go in. The poor map has been punished enough.

I don't intend to touch it any more unless I have a good reason too. The main reason I got rid of the outside area was the platforming. Anyone with even the slightest bit of hindering lag wouldn't make the jumps. It was unfair for them, so I got rid of it. This is an official map, it should be as accessible to everyone as possible.

As for CTF09. Metal Blade and Shadow Blade are there to give a stronger counter to someone running in with Leaf Shield on. It would be easier to run in there if Shadow Blade was more hidden.

Rather than blocking off the entire area, maybe just edit it. Add a thin bridge to keep the danger? The map is getting thinner and I feel that it should be widened again, The Dam had a strong platforming element and that's what made it unique.

Y'know maybe it's just me feeling this way, but whatever. That's my two pennies.
