MM4 Wire Item?
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:14:06 PM »
Sure the balloon item is basically identical to item 1, but the wire item has some fun potential. Basically a one-shot automatic grappling hook, it would need to be coded as a zero-damage, mid-range projectile that pulls the player to whatever it contacts.

Alternatively, if you hit an enemy it should pull them to you, enabling a wicked fun "Get over here!" + Top Spin combo.   :twisted:

This sounds similar to Clown Man's Thunder Claw... although that requires rods hanging out of the walls for you to swing on. Also I'm sure everyone hates MM8 anyways so I'll just shut up now.

It should work more like the grappling hook from this one game I played (I think it was a James Bond one) where you could hook to the wall, and by holding the button down you could stay up there. In order to balance this out, you can't change weapons while hanging, however if you press alt-fire you can rain down megabuster shots. Perfect for being sneaky.

Offtopic, but I never understood the hatred to Megaman 7 and 8. They were perfectly fine.

I like it too brotoad! But I generally hear people bad mouthing it, I mean I know its not 8-bit but I still had alot of fun playing it... What I liked was how the RM's talked smack to you when you entered their room, granted it wasn't the best voice acting in the world *coughClownMancough* but it was still neat to hear them say something for a change!

7 = fine.
8 = slow, dull, and painful to sit through thanks to the dialogue and bad story.

megaman 7 is my favourite megaman game of them all!
megaman 8 is anything but slow! yeah the story may not be great but at least it's not exactly the same as the other games! (wily steals robots and blames dr cossack/protoman/himself wearing a beard and glasses/dr light/the flu for his crimes)

Yes, wire item sounds fun. You latch to a part of the wall and rain down hell... But how about if you take double damage while using it? Price to pay for being a jerk sniper!

Hmm, this could be very interesting if done right. I think I played a Legend of Zelda mod once that had a working Hookshot.

The wire could also be in the background of some random stage... some robot using it.
I dont really think the wire would be all that useful. But just putting a background robot in the game using it would be fine.

Clearly you never played quake with the grappling hook mod.  there's a lot of fun to be had here, trust me.

Then again, if Thunder Claw (I totally forgot about that weapon...) can pull this off with repeatable uses, I'm sold.

Fun for a while, the everyone gets bored of it. And kinda useless.
