My skin issue
« on: November 02, 2010, 02:36:52 PM »
I really tried everythign now and I want a real answer now, The skins in my skins folder ONLY work when I use the MM8BDM LAUNCHER but I cant use the launcher for multiplayer games since it will say that wads are missing, add file - roboenza wad doesnt seem to help in this point...

I am using skulltag to open wad files Ive got version 98c and i also own all possible ID games out there from doom to hexen.

Dont come with "Reinstall fixed this up or move it somewhere else" I deleted everything and I mean EVERYTHING installed again and nothing chnaged I tried both, C:/ and my desktop.

Either I am missing something very important or someone tell me how I join a server and get the launcher to load all 3 wads (Megagame, MM8BDM-1b and roboenza mode)

To enter a roboenza server via the launcher, all you have to add is the roboenza-1.wad and then connect to the game. It should work fine, and your skins should be there.

Out of curiosity, does the console say it's adding the skin files while it's loading up? It usually does this very quickly so keep an eye out when it's loading up.

Also to add about the skins, Is the skins folder with the skulltag your using? The Skins folder has to be located with skulltag, not mm8bdm. So if you have your set up in any other way, like how I just use my one skulltag setup for all my doom wads, I have my mm8bdm skins my skulltag folder and not mm8bdm.

Yes I had the same issue, unable to get my skins working.

Unfortunately there's people out there using custom skins that I dont got... and they wont tell me what they're using.

The "Add roboenza file" doesnt work for me : / I can even detail it for you what i do, click the MM8BDm icon to open the launcher then I go to the connect tab then I copy the adress of an roboenza server into the IP adress field then i click the little add file button and click the roboenza wad then I click start it connects but then tells me i have to use the exact same wads -_-

I think the skins arent loading at all in multiplayer I am going to check if they do

Okay... take a seat...

Here's how to get it running...

Locate your MM8DM folder. If it has Skulltag in it, you're in the right spot.

Unload the .wad file into the folder that Skulltag is in... ensuring that the MM8DM.EXE file is there too. Activate the MM8DM.Executable and click "Add File" then locate Roboenza. Once done, you're set to go.

That's how I did it.

Same with the skins. Create a folder titled "skins" and put it in the same folder WITH SKULLTAG IN IT. Put your PK3 files into the skins, start up the game and they should load.

(click to show/hide)

In this picture you see the server i want to connect to, also it is hosted with the roboenza wad and i got the IP adress aswell.

(click to show/hide)

This is my MM8BDM folder if anything is missing you can check it here.

(click to show/hide)

Inside my skins folder, as you can see all skins are there.

(click to show/hide)

This is the last picture, you can double or even triple check if everything here is right, roboenza wad is selected IP adress is right aswell the server isnt hosting any special wads or anything, but once I click connect I get the missing wad screen.

When I launch the server with IDE tho it will let me connect but the problem is that the skins wont show if I use IDE or Doomseeker.

What's DTD doing in your skins folder? Although it shouldn't affect gameplay...

Try moving your skins folder to where Skulltag won't load it and try from there.

roboenza-1 is in the same folder as the launcher, yes?
Just type in "-file roboenza-1.wad" and it'll add it. You don't need to put in the file path.

Ok it's the same issue as the other threads. MM8BDM is located in a folder with spaces, any my launcher has problems with file paths with spaces in.

Put roboenza-1.wad into C:/MM8BDM (a folder with no spaces) and add that file. It should pick it up then.

Edit: Korby's method might work too
