I stopped playing after Ruby and Sapphire.  All of the newer Pokemon look like crap and their names are awful.

Jeez, we almost need a general pokemon talk for all of this.

Also, there is a reason why Gen 1 + 2 pokemon fit together so nicely. It's because A good chunk of gen 2 pokemon were actually supposed to be in gen 1. A few of the evolutions/prevolutions. It was actually confirmed Gen 1 was supposed to have 190 pokemon. Ontop of that, even more Gen 2 pokemon had concept art and designs for Gen 1.

In short, Gen 1 and 2 were made to be together, and that's why the pokemon fit so nicely. Gen 3+ does not have this distinction, the pokemon vary so much more because of it.

That explains it.  I don't know, all of the newer ones just look like they were desperate for ideas (except for the Eevee (spelling?) evolutions because quite frankly, you can never really go wrong with just changing the element).

i don't mind the new pokemon at all! there are some pretty terrible ones i'll admit but there are some out there with pretty creative designs!

This is how I feel.
Considering Gen V, I'm really happy they finally made a clockwork Pokemon(I TOTALLY CALLED IT.), but they flopped on its evolutions. They could have done way better, but I guess I'll probably end up liking it. It's similar to Dugtrio and Magneton, and we all know we love them.
(Diggletee, Diggletee, TRIO TRIO TRIO.)
