Camping

This community seems pretty laidback, so I think some good discussions could be made...

I have seen many people criticize those that camp, mainly those in another Doom mod, yet I believe the majority of the people I see do this. I believe camping has its advantages, but it's hard to find good places to use this effectively. I'm just wondering what people think of camping, and whether or not to discourage the use of it or not.

I'm sure everyone knows what it is, but camping is basically staying in one particular spot all of the time, even if the person is not standing still. I'm not asking if camping is a good technique; I'm just wondering what people think of the action.

Back in Cuttys Ghouls vs Humans, camping was promoted tactic! To be honest, I don't care much about camping. I don't really do it, unless the situation calls for it. I don't really care if people camp.

I guess I'm just too relaxed.

UNLESS OF COURSE. It's for deliberate stalling. That is something I cannot tolerate.

For me, i hate camping...i prefer run always ^^

I support it with two exceptions.  In Roboenza, there are two spots (one in Metal Man, when in Flash Man) where if you are given Pharaoh Shot, you are pretty much invincible.  People abuse the Hell out of those spots.

Flash Man, or Quick Man?  I never seen it happen in Flash Man's stage, but in Quick Man's stage, if one gets up on the center pillar, holding Pharaoh Shot makes you untouchable.

Theres also a small hole (or two) in both Woodman and Geminimans stage. I THINK. I remember seeing people sit in there with rapid fire weapons (yamato spear) and just make it near impossible to get them...

But overall: im alright with it.

i think it's okay in roboenza, cause it's a survival tactic.

in regular modes i feel guilty if i start camping. after like 3 kills at the most, i get out of there and do something else.

There's another good camping spot on Snakeman's map IF you can reach it.
You know the window near the Rush Coil, if you drop down the other side you dont die. Found it when I got Gravity Hold'd over there on a cheat server before I could get the god cheat up.

That spot can be reached by OpenGL users cheating with Full Pitching. But I guess fair Open GL users can reach too, without full pitching.

Your info says Mexico so I'll forgive you but in this language (well, its current slang) gettin laid means something else!

I don't think more or less of people who do it but it is a bit lame if they use the extremely difficult to reach ones like Metal Man's just to use it and make matches hold up for a while. It doesn't matter for me unless it's making matches boring. If that happens there's this easy solution I figured out where I can close the game and find something else that's more fun to do. I personally prefer fighting recklessly and stupidly!

Zombie Rape combo above + Zombie managing to touch rapist = EPIC FAIL

So, yeah... rapist got sexed up by a lucky and/or accurate zombie grope.

I'm perfectly fine with camping, except in a couple of instances.
I'll use a recent GVH battle I had as an example.

I was Creeper, against 3 marines and an engineer. My teammates were dead, and they were all camping. I said "I refuse to go out there unless you guys stop camping." I almost thought I was gonna get kicked with the reaction I got, but they did at least stop camping, and luckily I didn't get kicked. I mean seriously, Marines camping? Your grenade is an instant freaking kill on a creeper. Instances like this is when you should get off your pilgrim asses and go frag that last person.

Camping in Roboenza maps is fine, because as long as you have OpenGL, there is no possible place for survivors to be invincible. Heck, I'm pretty sure Cutmanmike said himself (don't quote me on this, but iirc he said this.) he might work on a way to have zombies climb things. (Such as the pillars in Crystal Man's stage's 1st floor, another popular camping spot)
