Let's settle this...

Among Mega Man fans, two games stand tall as the best of the best, the best Megaman has ever done.

Mega Man 2 and 3.

However, ideas on which was actually better have never really gone through. Nobody knows which is truly a better game.

Let's figure out once and for all, which game do you prefer, and why?

Also, no "i like both" or anything, say which one you think is better, or don't vote. mk

One day, I played all of the Robot Master stages in each game (not the castles, I didn't have time) and I've got to say MM2 wins hands down.  The stages are more fun, the weapons are better, and the music is superb.  In fact (I'll probably be burned at the stake for saying this), I find the music in MM3 to be the 2nd worst 8-bit tunes in the series (MM5 is the worst despite Dark Man's castle).

Oh, and as for MM3's weaponry, Top Spin doesn't even function properly.

Mega Man 3. It had a good set of weaponry, cool robot masters, awesome music. a large amount of stages. Introduction of Rush and Protoman. Fighting all the MM2 bosses again in the form of Doc Robot....and so forth.

...So?  Napalm Man, Dark Man, and Wily Capsule are the only really good tunes.  The rest are just "okay"...except Star Man's.  That one is pretty bad.

As for MM3, Snake Man's is great as is the later Wily Stage theme, Spark Man's theme is pretty good.  The rest are just decent except one of them (Shadow Man's, if I remember correctly) which is bad.

mega man 10 is better then both of these
i like MM2 a bit more then mm3, probably because MM2 brought me to the mega man series

megaman 2 is definatly more accessable to newer fans, but once you get the basic formula down the later games in the series are so much better, which is why i prefer megaman 3. my favourite games in the series are 7 and 4, but 3 is pretty high up there, especially for the doc robot battles!

I'd like to add MM9 is my favorite.  I might like MM10 more than these two as well.

I didn't like MM9 so much, because I thought it was mind bendingly hard. It took me about two days to beat Jewel Man, I had to finally crack and buy a ton of shock protectors and hope I don't die to the stone guy

I voted for Mega Man 3. I'm just sad that it didn't get as much development time as it would've needed: MM3 is an unfinished product. -___-

Edit: Why isn't there a Mega Man 10 option here?

I just freaking love mm3! Not only is it the game with snakeman but the level's are just so awesome!
And revisiting maps in diffrent forms with the doc robots is just so cool.
