Hosting custom servers and file paths
« on: November 13, 2010, 09:40:38 PM »
Is there any workaround for the problems the launcher has when it comes to adding files with long paths, or paths with spaces?

I want to be able to use custom content, maps and the like, but I also don't want to dump MM8BDM on the root C: drive, either. I'm quite happy with it in program files.

I've tried editing the path to the classic dos style 'progra~1/mega~1' but that didn't seem to do the job.

Do I just have to wait for the next update?

Yup. You could also look into ZDL which can launch anything: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1044

Can ZDL host servers though? It worked great for single player but I didn't notice any options for hosting.

Ooer! Good point. I guess I could release the launcher stand alone for people who don't want to have to wait ages for the next version, I'm sure some people would appreciate it.

If it's not more trouble than it's worth, that would be lovely, my good man.
