I gave this a try, and was immediately disappointed.

First of all, it's trying to be an MMO in Minecraft. Needless to say, without extensive HUD modifications, it was doomed to fail in the beginning. It's clunky, non-intuitive, and overly restrictive. Of course, that says nothing for the server lag or inventory desync I was experiencing, but that's a problem in the original game too.

And then, I came upon a "Pigman Cave". I stood at the top of a 2 block raise and killed the Pigmen to clear out the chests they were guarding. They respawned immediately, so I had to chip away at them again. It was easy EXP, so I just rolled with it. Then, somebody runs in and immediately loots all of the chests. I wait for the chests to respawn, killing the same two Pigmen the whole while, and when one finally respawns, I am unable to open it. In fact, opening chests always seems to be a crapshoot- they use the same chests for decoration and loot, so they could probably add a chest in a random house and nobody would even think to open it... which, as it turns out, did in fact happen. Walked away with a unique item and dropped some junk in a "Trapped" (in order to make two chests instead of a double one) decorative chest I can only assume they forgot to make, well, decorative. I hope the next guy who opens it (assuming anybody even tries) enjoys that extra golden breastplate I found.

After running about and filling up my inventory with random junk, most of it being exclusive to other classes (which is not, in fact, labeled, though I suppose it's only restricted to the shears, shovels, sticks, and bows. Though my mage is doing fine with his stack of unusable arrows permanently glued to his inventory.), I gave up on finding a vendor or item storage bank, partially because I left the road for twenty seconds in hopes of finding something to do and not coming by a city. I suppose items not explicitly labeled as "vendor items" can't be sold, despite this, erm, "feature" appearing in almost any other MMO ever. If there's a use for 10 shears (used by the "donator exclusive" [Come on guys, it's not a donation. It's a purchase. If you demand money in exchange for goods or services, you're a business making sales.] assassin class, but drops for all players, even worthless level 1 ones) or shovels, please enlighten me next time I try to take 20 steps out of town.

Perhaps the most irritating part is the total lack of feedback or guidance. "Find my brother", the quest says. I faintly recall hearing the NPC tell him I should go down the road and I couldn't miss him, but I went down that road a good while, even passing through a forest (which I'm assuming was meant to be a dungeon or grind spot or somesuch) and didn't find much of anything. Lots of blank space, really, and I can't for the life of me determine why they didn't just give everybody one of those In-game map items instead of relying solely on their site's map. Speaking of no feedback, the one quest I did complete claimed I earned 8 emeralds or so for doing it, but my dosh count was quite unchanged. I don't know if it deposits it directly to the bank (why it would, I could never guess), but I would assume it'd signify that somehow.

As a final point, the mobs. Easily the worst way to handle multiplayer MMO mobs I've ever seen. For anybody who hasn't played this yet, imagine 20 mobs on screen at any time while outside town (and I was even attacked by a so called "Bob the Zombie" while I was inside of town. Twice. Oh, and by a rat, too. Don't go AFK, kids.), and all these mobs will respawn in approximately 10 seconds after being killed. If the overworld has this many monsters, I can't fathom how much of a clusterfuck an enclosed dungeon might be, especially while looting a chest (Which I tried to do, by the way. I cleared the area out and, unsurprisingly, by the time I did so, half the mobs had already respawned and the chest was covered by a swarm of mobs again.)

And as for the combat, no, it's exactly the same. Your attack range is ridiculously over inflated (so much so that I could kill a swath of mobs twice my level coupled with my instant half-heal and use of cover to regen mana. So basically, it was Call of Duty) and you get a few bells and whistles in the form of "special abilities", but unless they saved the most critical overhaul to the Minecraft engine for the higher levels, it's just more point n' click. A lot of pointing and clicking. At mobs that don't stop coming.

At the end of the day, this either looked like a project by people who didn't know how to make a standalone game that wanted to make an MMO, or by people that wanted to mod Minecraft but just threw darts at a board labeled "Genres to adapt to your game of choice". With my only real evidence being the fact that they're trying to sell features in somebody else's game for use on their server, I'm not really certain which one it is.

...Ok this is a weird xmas in minecraft. Started up ftb today and it is now raining baby pigs riding on slowly falling chickens that poofs when they touchdown. Also my portal gun is red and white and I now have a merry bee. I also had the utility golems mod and animal bikes installed flying from village to village on a reigndeer leaving emeralds and for my soulsand golem reskinned to look like a pigman, I gave him gold armor that ironicly was reskined as a chicken suit due to my texture pack resulting in a pig in a chicken suit surrounded by pigs riding chickens. All in all a rather festive day with nitor ornaments and redstone wire lights on the buildings and the vanilla present chests

what

It seems that the folks at Mojang have finally did what they were threatening to do, as they have changed the skin texture format, to allow separate left & right limb textures, as well as "hat layers" for all the other body parts.

I kinda wish they did that BEFORE I made all those Bomberman skins...

EDIT: Although it seems that the old format is still compatible with the new snapshots, so I may only update the skins that would actually take advantage of the new parts.

Decided to work on some casual clothes for my Mega Man Volnutt skin to accommodate the new skin update, in which I'm planning to move his armour to the new "hat layers". How does he look?

Looks good.

So I started (another) new survival world.
Used the seed "work that sucker to death" (guess who's been playing sanic compact disc?)

DAY 1: Punched a tree
DAY 2: Got 15 Diamonds
DAY 3: Crafted my first Pickaxe... wait
Desert Temples yay.

I also gave myself a permanent Health Boost Level 14 (so 40 hearts) effect because I wanted to see how that'd work.
I then got attacked by 45 Skeletons (no, really!) AT THE SAME TIME, which left me with a half a heart.
Oh yeah, and this is "EASY" mode.

Also, no matter how many worlds I create, and no matter how many thousands of chunks I explore, I STILL have NEVER seen a Mesa biome.

I had a mesa once back when I played minecraft for a while.
It was one of the nicest places ever.
We are talking about v1.5 - v1.7.3 beta, though. Yes, 2012.
(The imo true minecraft, unlike the post-release game ... and the beta versions 1.8 and 1.9)
