V1C discussion and poll
« on: December 12, 2010, 10:02:21 PM »
Well, I have reported some things I liked and disliked before, right? Riiiiiight. But now, it's time to discuss what we have experienced in the long run, as our minds may have changed.

First of all, the poll is to rate V1C. Be fair when rating and make sure that you have played with that version long enough.

At first, I was greatly displeased with Power Stone nerf and Search Snake modification. But now I realized that the Power Stone nerf ISN'T that bad. I managed to take three frags with those in Roboenza mode! Of course, little before I got tagged (lol, I laughed so much by then that I forgot I was one of them!). Search Snake didn't need to be modified. Really. Maybe it could have just a range limit, but that's just me. Ring Boomerang glitch (mostly known as Ring Beam) was, however, a goddamn lagger. Get enough of those and any server will crash.

Snakeman's map modification was not indended to be simply a "window wall". Maybe a death pit beyond the window would make it more interesting...

Well, that's all from me. Now discuss from there and rate.

I've used power stone maybe once or twice since the nerf, mostly by accident

Well, although I doubt that V1C needed another topic (already had one in Bugs/Suggestions), I'll go ahead and list the Pros/Cons of V1C. My opinion, of course.

Pros:

+ Stage fixes for Roboenza mode/etc
+ Leaf Shield being damaged by stage items
+ Mirror Buster no longer God-mod with Search Snake
+ Star Crash not firing when switching weapons
+ Shield weapons following the character better
+ Bots no longer being permanently invincible with Skull Barrier
+++ "Ring Beam" exploit removed

Cons:

- Tango can still be used to fire a beam of Mirror Buster shots
- Power Stone needed a nerf, but was slightly overnerfed
- Search Snake change didn't really address the lag issue online...I think

Other things to consider for future releases:

~ Remove Power Stone/Gyro Attack's ability to "switchfire" (Leaf Shield should keep it, though)
~ Small Blizzard Attack buff, along with Power Stone
~ If the lag issue is addressed on some stages like Centaur Man's, give Search Snakes their ability to climb walls again
~ Maybe give a small nerf to the splash hitbox/damage Hyper Bombs have
~ Double-check the bots' ability to speak to you in single player. Crash Man, for example, never seems to talk.
~ Speaking of Crash Man, remove the invisible ladders on Crash Man's stage
~ For CutManMike: Triple-check the changes you release for newer versions. For example...forgetting to add new maps (CTF maps). d:

Forgetting to add new maps?  I believe the two CTF maps added in V1c would like to have a word with you.

As the maps creator, I can personally confirm they are in fact in too.

Didn't know that they were added. I was referring to a post CutManMike made on the blog. If they're already in, then that's cool. Still, it doesn't hurt to make sure every change is in before releasing a newer version.

Oh, and I like how that's the only thing the both of you had to comment on.

Because it was a complaint that had zero basis in fact.

Hyper Bombs badly need a nerf. They should be powerful, but not instant kill in DM. I often got killed just by being near a bomb and AT full health.

Also, I would prefer Charge Kick to use up a tiny bit more ammo, since it's constantly used for escape. I used the weapon during Roboenza when I was the only one still alive. I still had a W Tank left when all of the infected robots died, and I had used nothing but Charge Kick when I ran out of Rush Coil and Item 1 to escape.

For buffs, Blizzard Attack and Power Stone. I still use them from time to time, but it takes forever to kill someone now.

Didn't mean for the thing I said about/to CutManMike to be viewed as a complaint, but rather as a light-hearted suggestion. Also, it isn't limited to the CTF stages, nor did I mean to be hostile in any way. Sorry 'bout the misleading comment.

Also, chill out. d:

I don't know why people complain so much about Hyper Bomb.
1st: It doesn't explode on contact. It takes TIME and was one of the most useless weapons in Megaman (used only against Megaman(?)/Negaman and GUTSMAN! *DUN NUUUUUUUUN!*)
2nd: It is strong but never to the point of OHKO. Unless you are showered with many people's bombs at the same time.
3rd: What needs a nerf more? Crash Bomb or This?

Flame Man's stage also has invisible ladders akin to Crash Man's stage, and should be fixed as well.

Blizzard Attack isn't that bad, but a slight boost could probably be applied. Power Stone, however, needs to be boosted up again. Perhaps not to a OHKO, but it should take out a major chunk of your health.

Other than that, I approve of this version. Keep up the good work.

Power Stone is fine. Not everything needs to be perfect.

Power stone was nerfed too much.
As was the Blizzard attack.
The solution to an overpowered attack is not overnerfing, it's just nerfing.
Other than that, things are pretty nice.
Except that there seem to be more matches not available to the public than there are available to them.
This needs to change if you want to attract more people and keep the current fans happy.

That doesn't change anything. I know to stay away from bombs, but that's not exactly easy to do either.

Quote from: "tsukiyomaru0"
2nd: It is strong but never to the point of OHKO. Unless you are showered with many people's bombs at the same time.

It did happen when there were a lot of bombs, but I KNOW I get OHKOed with ONE bomb. It has happened more than once.

3rd: What needs a nerf more? Crash Bomb or This?

I personally didn't find anything wrong with Crash Bomb, unless you meant the fact knockback can keep the players in place. Well, what can you do about knockback? >_> Hyper Bombs need a nerf more than Crash Bomb.

EDIT: This isn't a suggestion to the versions in general, but rather to the public. Could you guys please host more types of servers besides Roboenza and DM? Both have been overplayed to the point they're not fun anymore.

I do agree on the power stone nerf being to much.
Its a 5 hit weapon now and i stopped even wanting to pick it up since the nerf. It was one of my favorite weapons before...
A 3/4 hit would be more appropriate.
