For some reason... I expected Mr.X or Ivory to take the first place, so it is not a big surprise. Congrats there.

I think that's up for the makers to decide. Mine is already in the XPack.

Yes. Congrats, congrats. Congratulations on your victory.
I'm gonna practice mapping so I can make something half-way decent for the next contest.

I hope I can enter the next contest, because this time I might be prepared. I just need to know when it will come.
Also, btw. Congrats Ivory.
I'm not really surprised really.

To show how much thought was put into my AMP01 map and to encourage other people to post about their maps:
The music is loud because ALL the music in AMP-MP is consistently loud.
... bad start to the explanation of my map...
I intended AMP01 to be a "tactical" map. As in, the powerful weapons are in areas with the most paths to them, so they are easy to obtain and are popular spots for the players. You must take your time with this map, you can't rush it or else you get owned. The topspin is only overpowered if you're not careful going round corners. The search snake is used in this map for a very good reason. For camping, and anti camping... In that cramped dead-end room you can camp, but if anyone managed to get in, you'll have to switch to Air Shooter, Top Spin or something because the only way out is through (Or over :p).
I added a large range of weapons because a large range of weapons is fun and no-one likes a limited selection of weapons :). The amount of health and ammo pickups, well... I'm generous, and most of the weapons are very powerful anyway... running out of ammo isn't fun :(
The layout, the way everything is placed was thought out carefully (like every map should). I intended it to be a good duel map so you can predict your target. The level of detail is a little above average. Not only that, every room looks different so it's very easy to navigate. I just hate playing a new map and getting lost all the time. I see mapping as an art and an ugly map is a pile of crap to me (there are some exceptions if the layout is very interesting), so I aim to make my maps pretty with what I have.
Oh and uhh... download it here:
AMP01.pk3
I'd also like if other people posted comments about their map :). I'd find it all very interesting about what when through the authors heads when they mapped.

Well I started off first by making a large 2048x2048 square to see exactly how much room that would be. Originally the map had platforming, but it wasn't that cool, so I only kept one piece and made it a second Fire Storm location. I then divided the level up into the open area, and the inside area. It was far too flat. So I made a second elevation in the top right area. Made the map far better and by this point I decided upon making it a Fire Man map. You had room to run in outside, and multiple ways around the inside areas. Which is good, you don't want players to be stuck running circles. I added two stair cases up and a small ladder climb in the outside area. The Fire Traps were mandatory for me. It was a Fire Man map, so I stuck them in the upper half. Played around with the timing then put the W Tank between them. Figured someone would think it was worth the risk seeing as I decided upon limited ammo/health pickups at this point. By this time the basic layout was done.
Didn't take me that long, I think I did the basics in an afternoon. In boredom while doing personal testing with the lolbots, I decorated the floor with patterns. I thought it looked pretty cool.
I also put in a lack of health because one of the most the annoying things in a duel is where health is so common that killing someone becomes a chore. I also put in limited weapon energy to force players to change weapons and cap the likes of Ice Slasher.
Weapon wise, since this was all Fire Man themed, minus hot heads, Fire Storm had to be there. Napalm Bombs was for lobbing off edges and around corners. Shadow Blade was for general purpose attacking. Ice Slasher was there partly for being Fire Man's weakness and partly for another general weapon. Freeze Cracker turned out to be great for the level. The little ice shards could get around it easily. Finally Air Shooter was a nice close ranged weapon that could also be used to hit up high. Not to many weapons, but not too few.
Item wise, the W-Tanks are useful, but not in general reach. You either had to jump for it, or dodge the fire traps. Tango Roll was also added because it could be used to net a kill or make the other player back off. It could bounce off into the lava. I didn't mind that too much. Well placed Tango Rolls can turn the tide of battle.
From there I just spent a few days playing it with bots and running about like mad in it, trying to find anything that could be exploited, fixing things up as need be. Once I was happy with it I sent it to Cutty. As for the Fire Man music. Nothing better to put there. We weren't being marked on music choice, so I stuck with the robot master it was based on. I also didn't forget the 5 frags left music. I just don't plain like the MM1 Boss theme, It's ultra repetitive.
I think that about sums up what was going through my head. It was about 4 months ago

Okay then, I'll bite.
Back when I signed up I thought tossing up an acceptable map was going to be easy, but I soon found myself in the mapping equavilent of writer's block, as I just couldn't come up with a good layout. So I tried a crazy idea, and based it on that Wily logo. So there was nothing in
this
place in the general logo, so here's a wall. This other place you couldn't reach either, so I had to block that off. Enclose it a little here and there, adjust the elevation a bit, add a ladde-
It then hit me that, holy shit, this layout might actually work. Going off on a crazy idea isn't a 100% guarantee of success but it's a good idea to try. So I went with it, and decided to texture it after all the fortress levels of the game (although in retrospect that looks horrible so when I release it I will have retextured to just use Wily Fortress textures). I then needed to add weapons, so I decided to pick one weapon from each game. Quick Boomerang is a very good to ambush with, Fire Storm is very versatile both for long range and short range, Silver Tomahawk is a fast, long range projectile, Water Wave can wreak havoc at the people below, and also in the corridor you find it in, which for some reason I completely failed to take in mind, although it worked out well regardless. Dust Crusher packs a major punch, and Gemini Laser is very good to blanket a whole area in a tight space. Add Tango Roll to round it out and give some backup. I too realized the problem with a map that has too much health, so I went with a semi-sparse amount of health and weapon-energy and done.
It's not my best map by far, but I'm still proud of it because it was a very non-standard idea that actually worked somewhat.
I won't release it juuuust yet, I need to do some visual modifications, but it will probably be out in less than 24 hours. Until then, be patient.

i get my ideas from other maps somtimes. my original dual map for this cometition was going to be based on flash mans stage, so i used the basics from his stage like the pilars and a big rectangle layout was what i started off with...but this was my first map so it took me a while to learn this stuff witch is why i was late...the end
