New Dude Food You(New Guy For you)
« on: February 01, 2011, 07:03:26 PM »
I'm new to the forums and slighty new to the games. I mean, I got the GvH and Skulltag and stuff-muff, though the problems that occur are really really REALITY irreally annoying they make me threaten my own laptop; "I'll DECORATE error parent type jitterskullattack you, stupid Vista." so I may need help with various issues. Also, I think you'll agree to agree to not disagree entirely to it's intermission that it'll be fun to have me here, cuz I'm unpredictable. So yeah, my name's TheWickedSlayer and I'm looking foward to joining in on all the funtastical adventures this place has. I'll ask my questions later, for now, I'm trying to make myself known, so...hi, or yo, or hola, or aloha, or salut, or bonjour, or konnichiwa, or wazzup, or some other ninth greeting...yeah.

To save me the time from creating another topic, here's a question; I wish to use the singleplayer mode, so I got an older version, HOWEVER, when I try to play the GVHmaps.pk3 using Skulltag, I get 2 DECORATE errors, observe:

Script error, "GVHmaps.pk3:gvhfinal.wad:DECORATE" line 271
Parent type 'JitterskullAttack' not found in JitterskullAttack2
Script error, "GVHmaps.pk3:gvhfinal.wad:DECORATE" line 460
Parent type 'Creeperball' not found in Creeperball2

I only have mediocre knowledge in programming, but I'm not sure how to beriddeth myself of these things. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ah, all i can think of is that you put any used files in the wrong order, causing it to look for an actor that doesnt exist.
In case you're using an older GVH that doesnt have the maps in its own file, always put the maps in after the GVH file itself (aka the file with all the classes, etc).

As for the campaigns, i was able to get them running (only tested the first maps of each though), using GVHv2b9, that version should still be on oblacek's file hosting thing. Try http://oblacek.sh.cvut.cz/bin/GVHv2b9.pk3

I ran the human campaign with GVHmapsv2b6.pk3 with GVHv2b9 as the main GVH file. And the ghoul campaign with GVHwarmaps-beta4.pk3.
While i cant guarantee they're the newest, not to mention there's often a balance difference between GVH versions, in some cases the newest classes arent available either, but i can put up a link to those two.
http://www.mediafire.com/?0gom7axhk8umxvj

Just remember to put the main file first, and then the map files, if the maps arent included in the main file, and dont use both map files at the same time either, doesnt seem to work. :P

Edit: basically the order:
GVHv2b9.pk3
GVHmapsv2b6.pk3/GVHwarmaps-beta4.pk3
whatever else you want here

If you're not using an uh... launcher or server browser to start your singleplayer games, put them in a row, GVHv2b9 first/on top, any other files below, and drag them all together at the same time to Skulltag.exe. I think that should cover all things.

A'ight, so wha ha happened was; I got the older version from that generous link you gave. I put the v2b9.pk3 in a folder and below it, the maps. Now, I can just double-click the .pk3 folder to run it, so I chose the b6maps.pk3 and so far so good. new game, chose human's last stand, picked a difficulty and....console pops up and at the bottom it says something like;

invalid team "human team"

same goes for the ghouls expect it says ghoul team instead. Also, when ya first use skulltag, or ya move files around, it asks for where the Doom/Doom2/Herectic/etc. wad is. Is there a specfic place that should be? And what of my newfound problem? All this and more, after the commercial break, lol.

Ah, think i know that problem. I think you're only loading the maps file because thats the only thing you double clicked, when double clicking a pk3 or wad file, only that file is run with skulltag. In order to run several files at once, you gotta basically select both files at the same time, ussually by making a box after holding and dragging the mouse, if you know what i mean.

Select two files this way, even if you have to line them up manually in order to select only those two, and drag them to Skulltag.exe, this way both files get used, keep the order of the files correct though, or you'll most likely end up with errors like that JitterSkullAttack stuff.

As for needing another wad, GVH requires Doom2 to run, mostly as an resource for alot of things, without that it might not even work! And be sure to select Doom 2 if you do happen to have it, when skulltag asks for a game/IWAD to use. Mind you Doom2.wad apparently is illegal to download, seems they're still selling it, sort of. Cant say the FBI is going to crash into someone's living space just because of downloading this really old file though, either. :P

If you got an CD or something with Doom2 on it, putting the Doom2.wad file from that CD or whatnot onto your doom folder works fine too, unlike Megaman 8bit DeathMatch GVH is not standalone, meaning it requires what is called an IWAD, like Doom 2. Expect like 95% and perhaps more of the wads to require an IWAD, and in Skulltag like 90% of them minimally to require doom 2.

Oh, if you got something to browse and join servers with, try finding a single player tab or something on that program, just give it the correct wads, and Doom2 as an IWAD, and you should be good to go. Assuming you're familiar with joining servers atleast.

In case you're completely new to Skulltag and might not have a server browser, i'd personally reccomend IDE (Internet Doom Explorer). It has many functions, some important ones like master server and whatnot should be preset, though most importantly you will need to give it a path to your Skulltag.exe, and where you store your wads.

Well hope that might help, need to sleep now though.

Ah, yo...you're right about me being new to the skulltag business, I haven't been on any servers yet, but now...a new problem(sorry). So I boxed the files and ya know what it says in a pop-up box?;

skulltag.exe-Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point
?getrCPUUsage@System@FMOD@@QAG?AW4FMOD_RESULT@@PAM000@Z
could not be located in the dynamic link library fmodex.dll.

Please pardon my computer's language as well as my constant poking for answers, but if I'm this desperate to play a game, it's gotta be one helluva game.
