all this happens because there's no respect for the police. there are walls of distrust between police and civilians. because they know how so many people hate them, they know they could just be shot down for "getting in someone's way" when they are trying to keep everyone safe, so they've gotta be real defensive, and people continue to act arrogantly, or they refuse or neglect communication, or what, i don't know. back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, and it escalates.

Well, let's not forget that those walls of distrust exist partially due to some officers abusing their power, and taking things too far when a situation could've been resolved without killing someone. No party is to blame, but certain individuals from both parties have had a stake in putting up those walls and causing animosity between law enforcement and citizens. It's not a case about citizens disrespecting police or all cops being bad (neither of those are true), but rather a case of incidents not being handled how they should be handled.

Yeah, people still play the game quite a bit. TLMS and Boss modes tend to be most popular, but a recent revival to Mike's old singleplayer co-op/survival mod had an official release just the other day.
And then there's also v5, which will be coming out by the end of the month, so that'll also help things out quite a bit.
