I don't think anyone realized it was your birthday.

I posted that it was my birthday around noon. That was more than enough time where someone could see that post, especially since more than half of the members posted in here and they get notified every time someone else posts in this topic. I think it was more like, nobody knows me or really likes me, so no one bothered to wish me a happy birthday.

Everyone knows and likes Shade Guy, so everyone is wishing him a happy birthday. By the way, happy birthday Shade Guy

And this is why I think birthday forum bandwagons are inappropriate, elitish, and most importantly inconvenient unless the one feeling left out doesn't take feeling left out too seriously.

Warnin'! Fraglie egos are EVERYwhere. Even the way ya live can offend someone, just like how this post I just made probably did! :(

Incomin' ban for offendin' someone! Bye Cutstuff! Nice ridin' with ya!

Well, Megaman94 didn't openly say he didn't like that he wasn't massively congratulated unlike more well-known and popular community members, so I assume he didn't mind. Still though, not even coming from a "this might offend somebody" perspective, I find it pretty exclusive that only a handful of forum users get a public display of attention, even if it's just yearly. Feels like a community circlejerk.

Last I checked, there's never been a rule saying you should only acknowledge a certain few birthdays on the forum so don't be making this look like a game of favorites.

If someone doesn't tell you "Happy Birthday", it's on them, not the whole forum for letting someone post about someone else's. It's not like this is the only forum that does it.

Just start banning people if they don't report in at every user's birthday imo

It was my birthday the day after Kappy's (Mar 6th) and no one posted anything about it on the forums. It wasn't just this year either, of the 6 1/2 years I have been on these forums, I probably only got birthday wishes in this thread like once or twice.

I'm also Ivory, ex-Lead Dev and one of the few members of the old old guard of Cutstuff, predating MM8BDM. So it's not like I'm a nobody no one knows about. Yet, despite all of this, I never made a scene about no one bothering to wish me a happy birthday in a thread. End of the day, does it really matter? Not really. If the people who truly matter to you remember your birthday, that's way more important.

Never forget about envy. Not all folks have it, but there are folks that are sure to have it in their system. Of course ya could keep it to yarself and not full victim to envy, but again some folks have it deep in their system. Last but not least, when it becomes vocal then it creates a commotion like this right now.

I have to admit, I'm glad to see the sentiment my comment got doesn't gear towards caring so much about the whole deal to begin with. Yeah, some people are resentful, but what're you gonna do about it? Most certainly not force everyone else into corresponding to that resentment.

Not 100% relevant but I still like the idea of a separate thread for birthdays.

I'm honestly ashamed of playing 8bdm all these years.

To support and play a game made by people who value cliques and e-peen status over REAL quality content is an awful thing to do, and I've kept relatively quiet about it for a very long time. High-up devs have been involved in so much corruption that I often become physically ill if I think about it for too long. The sheer amount of deception, metaphorical dick-sucking to get content in, and mismanagement of a simple non-for-profit game modification is astoundingly out of proportion to how other games are developed. This game has been a perpetual failure not because of a lack of interest in a Megaman FPS, but because this game is run by people who play the game once a month in a private server to test out Copy Robot's newest prettily-colored-cardboard-box map, then give it a thumbs up because they can't tell the difference between good and bad map flow. Those same people then go on to ignore the problems plaguing every gamemode and weapon while simultaneously releasing a whole new horde of imbalanced and unacceptable content for the playerbase to deal with. This game has been continuously slaughtered by the same people for the last 4 years, and it's quite frankly disgusting. The combination of obliviousness and the belief that friendship is worth more than game quality leads to a vicious cycle ultimately ending up with 8bdm suffering, and nothing will change until previous faults are recognized and rectified.

So damn true. At this point, I honestly don't give two shits about new core expansions because it's the same thing over and over. New maps, weapons and dev bullshit, all of which we have enough of already. That's not to mention that the only way to make stuff for an expansion is if you're in the circle of friends that's managing it, regardless of how long you've been part of the community or how much you've done your part to keep the game alive. And the actual issue is not just devs, it's the "community" as a whole. And I use quotation marks, because I can't really call this a community. You've got shitters left and right spiting you at every fucking chance they get, good reason or not. It's fucking ridiculous considering we're supposedly here because we want to enjoy something we all have in common, not throw shit at each other over it. But you know what? I gave up on this "community" a long time ago. It was doing my health no favors trying to be someone people wanted me to be. So why am I still here? Because cutstuff.net isn't a community - it's a site. But there's nothing special here to write about in terms of user behavior, so I just stick to making more content because I still enjoy it, and there are people who like it too.

That's the worst of it, imo. This is about the first and last time I give a flying fuck about this matter on the forums, because quite frankly, it's a waste of time.
