Haha, Heatman commented similarly when seeing the Bass trophy; I think he said it seemed like they based it off of his Mega Man 7 look, rather than 8-bit sprite/early Mega Man art proportions.

All of the Mega Man trophies are too rad. They look so cooooooooooool!

Yeah, that is pretty much Proto Man's MM7-Arcade proportions...you know, when Capcom decided to actually make in-game sprites have their artwork proportions. Sadly, Mega Man's model is based off NES sprite proportions/animations, so the differences are jarring, to say the least.

It doesn't seem too wild to think of Proto Man being taller than Mega Man...it's just that he's taller in this case because of the artwork style each models are based off, and not because one is naturally taller than the other. A lot more emphasis went into modeling Mega Man's appearance so it mirrors the NES look, while Proto Man's model seem to have been just a case of "make him look like this"

You know, what with literally every other Mega Man related thing in the game being based off of artwork & the SNES/PSX game's proportions, it confuses me as to why only Mega Man and Elec Man are given "retro" looks.

TBH, I think the "retro looking" ones don't look as cool as the actual proportionate characters.

At least make them all one way, or all the other way, not a mix of both.
Sure, Smash Bros does mix quite a few different distinct "styles" in the game, but different styles for characters within the same series is too weird (exceptions being things like Paper Mario and the regular Super Mario series)

I'm assuming that the exceptions also include "realistic" LoZ vs. "Cell-shaded" LoZ.

Yeah, Zelda, Ganondorf (Twilight Princess) and Sheik (Ocarina of Time?) don't share the same design as Link (Skyward Sword but non-cellshaded), and Young Link from Melee (Ocarina of Time-Majora's Mask) is now Toon Link (Wind Waker/Minish Cap/Four Swords/Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks)

I'm sure there's more cases in which trophies don't match player characters' designs.

pretty sure he's still twilight princess link[his chest belt is different and he's left handed], and zelda is also using her twilight princess design.
sheik didn't appear in twilight princess so she looks as similar to them as possible.
toon link makes sense to be in a different style because that's one of the main gimmicks of his series.

that aside, megaman was made to be as close to his old glory as possible because that's how most people remember him; sakurai's mentioned this before, especially concerning his animations.

This was done by the Twilight Princess art team, though for the purpose of Super Smash Brothers Brawl. They were in development around the same time, weren't they?
I suppose you could say it's in the Twilight Princess style.

Well, yesterday I was able to play Smash for Wii U in a tournament. Gotta say it is and looks incredibly awesome at all. It becomes a "must have" for people who owns a Wii U and likes playing Smash. It's as fluid as the 3DS version and it felt pretty comfortable to play it with my 3DS.
Anyway, I also could play, along with another 7 people, 8 player smash before the tournament (the tournament was a stand in a videogame expo and there was a period of freeplay before the tournament). That was insanely awesome, 8 players battling each other at the same time... it was incredible. About the tournament, seems like my hype level was so high that I didn't play that good at all and lost the first round (plus, an epic fail I won't forget that easily). I'm waiting for the tournament staff to make another tournament soon (hype train again for me xP).
What about people here who already bought the game for Wii U? Could someone play 8 player smash with friends?

I would like to out of my way to urge anyone with the Wii U version of the game that's going for all the challenges;

Please use a hammer on the challenge for destroying 50000 blocks in trophy rush

This has been the most monotonous, least rewarding task.  I'm averaging over 400 blocks broken per 2:30 game, and its still going to take me well over 5 hours.  I'm too deep in to stop, and I wish this fate upon no one.  I had fun with trophy rush until I decide to grind this one out; I've stopped getting any new trophies hours ago and my Dr. Mario is better than it should be at this minigame.  DK might be slightly better for grinding this but if I spent 5 hours mashing down B I'd go insane.

You only get a badge by the way.

Personal Challenges make games fun imo
« Reply #1301 on: December 29, 2014, 01:02:10 PM »
No can do.
I told myself that I would complete every challenge (both 3ds and wii u) without hammers, and I intend on doing it that way.
The trophy rush one isn't even that bad, that is, combined with my "personal challenge" (at least 500k points with every character) for trophy rush. It should go by smoothly. Besides, trophy rush is the fastest way to obtain new trophies besides nitpicking them out of the shop, which you don't even need to start doing until 450 trophies or so. (This doesn't seem to be the case for you, but I felt it was still worth noting)

This would be a good time to post in the "most pointless thing you've ever done in a game" thread, rozark

Nah, it may be viewed as pointless by some but to me it's pretty satisfying.
