Also me seeing that art of BN Megaman just gave me a vision of the apocalypse for the entire MM franchise. Cutman mike, you are our only hope.

The Mega Man franchise died when 9 was released IMO.

You've just distinguished yourself as a true stick in the mud to me.

If you didn't like MM9's music--If you didn't think playing as Proto Man for a measly $2 was cool--If you didn't find MM10's Weapons Archive one of the best Fortress Bosses ever--then you can't call yourself a Mega Fan.

Well why exactly DID we have to buy Proto Man for 2 bucks when just unlocking him could have been smarter. Paying for things like the marathon stage and time attacks are worth spending. Character add ons... not so much, which also applies to Ultimate Alliance's same method, but that's my opinion. Course can't say the release of MM 9 was the complete end of the franchise but rather MM 10's release sort of just pushed it in my face saying "they're milking off our nostalgic meters..."

Exactly I've been saying.  9 kicked ass because it was a new Mega Man game and a throwback.  10 was "hey, we made money last time, let's go for 8-bit again!"  Just make a good Mega Man game with good graphics That isn't Legends or Battle Network or Star Forceand I'll be sold.

I don't think Mega Man 10 was by any means a bad game. Sure, I would have preferred if it wasn't 8-bit, but it was still great. I might even like it more than 9.

I liked about 3 songs in Mega Man 9 and you can play as proto man in Mega Man 10 for free. Weapons archive was bad ass though.

That isn't Legends

But nevertheless I agree with that statement. Though say if it were to happen but it ends up like Sonic "4", I think that thought is what makes me fear for whats to come of our Blue Bomber as of this generation.

Oh, don't get me wrong, it's a good game.  It's just tired.  It's a case of "I'm going to let it slide this last time, but next time make something that wows me."

I think it should stay 8-bit. They gave 3d a go, it was MMPU, which was cool but just wasn't the same. Trying to do 3d precision jumps with big fluffy models is not easy!

The way I see it, Capcom will probably carry on with 8-bit. Look at how successful the original NES games and MM9 (and 10 IMO) were. Capcom don't want to feed us another Megaman 8 do they?

I'm personally fine with either 8-bit or the Megaman 8 32-bit style, as long as they can pull off the latter right. Megaman 8 is the most underappreciated game in the series, and it was well made, but some key points made it rather underwhelming compared to the rest of the series. (Horribad voice acting, swimming, very low difficulty, that kind of stuff.)

Well why NOT focus on 2D based platforming and go with the mechanics which Legends works under. After all Legends was suppose to be the next gen Mega Man of the classic series if I recalled correctly. Besides, remove the whole dungeon concept with the fortress, more complex traps and unique weapons and you have a good game.

Besides I think we all want to fight our favorite RMs in three dimensions and in a way we received it with Mike's game and this itself is how it should work if Capcom EVER decides to make one.
============
Also 8 May not have been the best game in the series for it's difficulty though I believe 8's purpose was to show how they can turn a retro game into something beautiful. I mean actually look at the environments, the textures. They weren't once an eye sore and haven't been and I think when they used this with X 4 & 5 it was just amassing IMO.

He he he, off topic ;)

How hard could it be, *is shot* to make a megaman game with changing graphical system.

You could play in CLASSIC mode where everything is 8 bit.
You could play in GENISIS mode where the Wily wars style is used.
You could play in SNES mode where 16 bit is used
....................... PU mode........................
....................... PSX mode........................
....................... Ect....

I know that there would basically have to be multiple copies of the stage for the 16 and 32 bit modes. wily wars just was different sprites over identical stage. and these are 2d stages, If they could fit them on a nes cart back in the day, I'd hope they could cram them on a disk without much difficulty.

I am refering to a megaman collection game here. not necessarily mm11.

then again if they stick to 8-bit, it is more likely to attract custom content. (how many mm1-6 romhacks are there compared to mm7/mmx1-3) It is simpler.

edit: Ninja'd I would love for capcom to make a megaman themed FPS, Halo Vs Capcom?
