Once upon a time ago, I was absolutely terrified of Master Hand's laugh.  Good thing I wasn't good at games back then; Crazy Hand's laugh still unnerves me a bit today.

Also in that age, Sonic's original drowning theme.  It was like pressing a giant panic button.  For that reason, I could never get through Chemical Plant Zone...of course, I've beaten it now, but still.

No matter how old I get, that song always makes me panic. It's embedded in my brain now. Hell I can't even go swimming and stick my head underwater for too long without that song playing in my head.

The eel in Jolly Roger Bay still scares me to this day. Clanker was extremely terrifying as a kid because I expected him devour you at some point while swimming near him though now that I know he's a friendly shark it isn't all that terrible. Oh and for the people that played Star Wars: The Return of the Emperor, the monsters in the sewage on the sewer level.

In Paper Mario, when you're underneath Bowser's Castle in the dark with the creepy music and Buzzy Beetles. I fringe whenever I go there.


Even worse, however, was the first major boss in the original Kingdom Hearts for PS2: you fought him on the beach in shadows in the dark. He scares me to hell.

There is no going back after doing this, god help you if you saved over your file during the curse.
The world is dark and you are completely alone; not even Silent Hill monsters to keep you company.
But worst of all was the "music."
It is nothing but a deep droning bass of some sort.

Just relistened to it while looking it up on youtube just now; holy shit, I had every right to be scared.
Given the thread title this may not even be appropriate; why would they do this in a kids game?!

The music when fighting giygas after the creepy music box part with the violently warping background

and prince of persia, do you mean the 8 bit one? *lol'd at when he drinks the wrong potion and drops dead at the begining area*
