GVH30 Remix by ds201
« on: December 12, 2009, 06:31:06 PM »
Okay because I really have no opinion on GVH30 yet I'm going to let the public decide whether they think it's a good idea to make this map bigger. I was planning to remove some candles and junk from the map. Ds201 offered to update it a bit so I let him anyway, here's the final product:

I'm releasing GVH:CD beta 2 on monday. Should the GVH30 be replaced with this new one, yay or nay?

Like the new size. Only things bothering me are some misplaced textures and minor texture misalignments. Everything seems to check out with this map.

uhhhh

Uhhhhh

Uhhhhhhhhhh

Is there any reason in particular that it includes a full MP3 from the Trans-Siberian Orchestra? Either way, I'm going to have to cut the link, unless you decide to do something with it.

Uhh, all i can say, regarding looks, its not much of an improvement. Gameplay-wise, the open area's gonna get REALLY popular with the humans, of course, getting an entire team trough one entrance is going to attract the attention of ghouls, who'll gladly thin out the human population.

Aside giving it more detail maybe more then exit/entrance might do, but if they're wide i guess it still gives plenty of avoiding space.
The snow is a nice touch but it looks odd when there's snow on one sput but not another. :P

Oh, oh yeah, regarding the original inside area, it's alot better now, just those yellow candle things in the middle section get in the way, moving them more to the sides should work out better. If anything i learned in my map that putting them to the sides is better then middle. :P

Also, while your at it, perhaps alter the enviroment at the teleporters a little, by simply making people unable to stand behind it. Else you'll require a ghoul that does a 360 attack or can shoot at a distance in order to win. Teleport camping is quite effecient if the ghoul team is weakened and there's no handy ghouls around. (Altrough thankfully teleporter camping doesnt happen alot...)
Its especially effective because melee ghouls will use the teleporter accidently while trying to attack, its basically a shield! They dont last long enough to turn around and attack either.

Oh, and that brown area is REALLY bad looking, maybe detail that up a bit if thats possible. :P

EDIT: Uhh keeping it simple, i guess the new one is better off being used. But it still needs work.

I see a bit of a difference now, but I dislike the music.

I can't wait to see how this tries out in actual play.

Ok the majority of you seem to approve. I'll touch up a few things before sticking it in the zip though, like the snow seems really weird to me. As if it's snowing big squares down on me.

yeah, it is.
But it isn't as laggy as single sprites.
Feel free to remove some bits in the sprite or reform the whole snow thing.
