Moveset trump card go!
« Reply #30 on: June 27, 2011, 01:27:52 PM »
I believe some good moveset ideas can come from this.

(click to show/hide)
Granted, the picture I posted was originally thought up for him to be in Marvel VS. CAPCOM 3, but some moves could apply well for a potential Smash Bros. moveset. And the ultimate move shown in the picture could work like Link's or Ike's in Brawl. The way the attack starts off as an attack to select the victim, and the rest goes on from there.

I, myself, think his Final Smash or whatever they decide to call it in the next one should be Time Stopper. Rock goes into the center of the screen, all purple and junk, activates Time Stopper, and energy bar appears showing to run out of energy, then as the time start again, quick beams shoot across the battlefield. Or something.

And despite how much I dislike the idea, I agree that his chosen stage should be Mega Man 2 Wily Stage 1. It is THE MOST ICONIC stage in the Mega Man series. Unless someone else proves me wrong.

Also, the grabby-thingy-move-thing should be Thunder Claw. Working like Link's or Samus' grab.

Thank you, Kenkoru. I was just thinking of that image.

As iconic as Mega Man 2's wily stage is, I don't think it's visually appealing. I think just a plain Wily Stage would do. One that's not based off any specific game.

the wily stage would do like the sonic level did, it would have robot masters in the background, perhaps with a giant yellow devil or mecha dragon being constructed.

i think with a fresh touch of paint (like mushroomy kingdom_ wily stage 1 would look good! evn if that is not his stage, the music needs to be in the game! along with a nice selection of robot master themes (c'mon burstman and sparkman...and maybe the robot museum from &bass)

not sure what final smash should be, i like the idea of his combining loads of his weapons into one really big beam, or maybe he would get super adaptor and fly around? or something like in megaman 8 where rush, beat, auto and eddie come to aid him

I can't help but think that this image was made as an FU to Capcom saying "Megaman doesn't have enough options to be a fighting character", what's the source?

Gee, I dunno, go Google it yourself.

It was made by Availation, a fan on devaintART, coming up with ideas for movesets for various characters, including Bass, Proto Man, Dr. Wily, and even Roll.

I was thinking of Doc. Light's lab as a stage actually.

Mega Man's color schemes should be available as character color changes. The Blue Bomber for the default, maybe some iconic ones like Metal Blade and Thunder Beam for alt costumes?

His standard attacks should be generic punches and kicks.
Smash Sides should be Hard Knuckle punches... or Flame Sword.
Special Norm should be Mega Buster. Spam it like Fox, or charge it like Samus!
I'm thinking Special Down could be Top Spin, like the Mario Tornado.
Special Up could be Mega Man X2's secret SHORYUKEN OF FURY
Maybe Special Sides could be Break Dash? MMV references are always good in my book.

I laughed hard at the Time Stopper Quick Beam Party idea for the Final Smash.

Break Dash for Side B sounds cool. I always like to push Slide or Charge Kick for Side B, but it seems like most people would rather Slide to be a dashing A move : (

Time Stopper would just be a cool Final Smash all on its own. Or maybe even a combination of all the 'full-screen' powers, like Rain Flush and Tornado Blow. On the other hand, Tornado Blow might be yet another good option for an Up + B recovery move.

All these 'possible movesets' make me think it'd be a fun idea to create a 'concept game', where you just jump around as an 8-bit Mega Man and try out all of these moves to just see which feels the best.

Honestly, I think his Side-B should be shooting his fist with the Mega Arm.

Mega Man in Smash Bros. should totally have some sort of modular, non-static weaponry. Let's say he has one static move, the Mega Buster (standing B, chargable). Besides that, before every match, he should be able to select certain weapons to bind to the other three special moves. So one match you may equip Tengu Slash to Down B, Ring Boomerang for Side B and Tornado Blow for Up B, while another game you may choose Hyper Bomb for Down B, Grab Buster for Side B and Wheel Cutter for Up B. Hell this concept could be applied to other kinds of moves as well, like choosing between Super Arm, Thunder Claw and Danger Wrap for the grab attack, or different shield weapons for his blocking.

Perhaps a mix-and-match menu, similar to the "controls" menu for each name, could be made for Mega Man, so that each player can have a different moveset? That'd be pretty sweet.

Heck, that's overcomplicating.
If Megaman would get that, Kirby'd get it too.
Kirby's got a lot of powers that didn't got in, instad, he just got his copying ability and the other B moves and grabs became his games' abilities.
If you want something closer to what it would be, then just be simple and settle for 4 B-moves and grabs.
Perhaps mix the poewrs on the A moves as well.

Don't forget that a lot of Kirby's moves are based on his powers!

Dash-A is Fireball
Up-B is Cutter
etc.

Kirby's Fireball power was replaced from Melee to Brawl.  He now does a handstand and spins around, attacking opponents with his giant feet/shoes/whatever.
But that's getting SUPER OFF TOPIC.

An options menu wouldn't work; then two battling Mega Men would have to use the same stuff.  I think it should appear while setting up, before the stage select.
Also, yes, a weapons menu for Mega Man would be the best way to show all of his powers.  This could also be applied to Mario/Luigi (Different power-ups spanning the series) and Kirby (Copy abilities) .
