Oh, you. XD
Someone on a server the other day was wondering, was that little addition by you or DTD?

Behind the scenes, many of my music choices aren't made by me. Instead, I get solid advice from my friendly neighborhood bro, Darkaura. It seems however that I've got a tad bit of a conflict. Mainly, this regards the music choices of AMP05 and 09. With Darkaura's original Fissure Man theme being used for Cloud Brother, Darkaura thought it would be a better suggestion to use this song instead.
I honestly don't know whether to keep the theme or use this one instead. Another thing I have a bit of trouble with is implementing Fighter X music into the maps. Originally, only the maps made purely by DTD would have that music. After listening to everything by Fighter X, however, I feel like using this track for AMP05.
I kinda need help figuring it out. In any case, no real progress made on AMP today. I got a little bored of relocating and replacing items, so I've given myself a mini-vacation. Come back on Sunday or something for more updates.

A minor setback today in the world of AMP. It seems that blaze has relinquished AMP08 to me. He has decided to continue work on his RNC wood man map and dedicate his time to other projects. Here's wishing Blaze and the RNC crew good luck with their project! And now, a small rant...
The x-pack. A wonderfully crafted map pack that was actually the first major map pack to have a release. With it's humble beginnings in the SGC demo, to version 2b today, it's been one man's heart and soul put into one meticulously crafted map pack that serves as one of my greatest inspirations today. It has implemented some amazing concepts that I believe have been unfairly ignored, and it has many details put into each map, being easy on the eyes while still drawing attention. While my maps can catch a user's attention, some have noted brightness issues (lol, software users) that put a small strain on their eyes. The Mr.X map pack is honestly my favorite map pack and I try my hardest to emulate it's attention to detail.
Here's what I'm angry about: looking over all the servers today, none of them seem to have the x-pack included. Why do people ignore this map pack? Why ignore the brilliant work one man put into each of his maps, in favor of okay-good maps made by a bunch of people who share talks over skype? Is this map pack going to suffer the same fate? Will all my work be put to nothing, left in the background while weakly designed maps get the attention? Now, I'm not aiming this at CSCM. OK, I'm aiming some of my anger at CSCM, but I'm more angered by the hosts who ignore the Mr.X map pack. You're already required to have 4 different wads to enter one server, so why not add one more?
Again, no progress made on AMP today. Still going through my mini-vacation. For now, I plan to dedicate time to putting together AMP08 and then begin revision (again) of the rest of the amp maps. Special shout-outs to Metal Manu, Nuy and Lag Man for spotting some issues with my maps. You guys rock!

Keep in mind, the X Pack uses Triple Blade as a custom weapon. Which eliminates some compatibility with any Map Pack that uses custom weapons. Otherwise. Yes, I agree. I do miss the X-Pack.
Part of the reason I believe this is because there seems to be this idea of quantity vs quality floating around. In sense, MM8BDM spoils us by having a large amounts of quality maps when compared to other FPS games which tend to have 10-15 by approximation. When it comes to CSCM and everything connected to it, it has like what, over 30-40 maps or so? Well it's a lot more additional maps to play. Which doesn't make much sense when there are many other mappacks out there that don't use custom weapons, thus could be hosted as well.
However, you are wrong about one thing. The X-Pack wasn't the first Mappack. He had one of the first maps ever released, but it wasn't actually a map pack. I released the first major map pack, Mr X didn't actually make the X-Pack until later.

The original AMP02 has been revised, leaving amp 6,8,9, and 11 to look upon. 8 will have to be built from near-scratch (again) because blaze didn't finish the map originally. I've been given permission to use ground man textures, and I plan to use them alongside pharaoh textures to achieve the desired look. Looking at Mr.x's "Sand Sea", I notice he has an accompanying color to go along along with all the orange. I will most likely throw in shades of yellow and brown, with small details all along the ground and ceiling to make it look deteriorated. Here's hoping I don't overdo the bright colors like I did with AMP05, but still stick to a unique design.
Last thing I want to say: Darkaura gave one last suggestion for AMP09. Yes, or no?

Not that the other is bad, just throwing ideas around.

DTD YOU LIE
It's alright if you can't finish it in the next week or so. I have AMP08 on my plate, which means I'll be busy figuring out which textures I should work with. Maybe we can actually collaborate on this one? over skype or some other IM?
Thanks to all the people showing texture errors left and right. It really helps to know that when this map pack is finished, I won't be releasing a buggy set of maps. So far, we've found a teleporter texture glitch in AMP01. We've also found a skybox error in AMP05, as well as some imperfect walls. If you've noticed these errors, please do not report them again. These errors have been fixed. And now, some thoughts...
Textures. Over the production of this map pack, I have tried my hardest to stray away from using textures from a set amount of stages. People say it makes sense to just use all the textures from a couple of stages. There would be no point in me actually looking for other combinations of textures if I managed to stick to a couple stages worth of textures. It's what you see in the x-pack, the i-pack, and basically every other map pack at the moment. I guess I try to be different by playing with textures by color rather than stage. Simply put, being my first map pack (partially), I want to explore what textures can actually go together and try to make interesting designs out of the 1000+ textures at my disposal. Has it worked? Somewhat. People are requesting I tone down the amount of textures that I use, arguing that while everything fits together, it comes off as a huge cluster of details. It's something that I'll have to learn in the long run. For now, it's a matter of getting this map pack out to the public soon.
Progress? Ummmm, AMP08 is still in its early stages. I'll finish revising amp06 tonight and then improve amp09.

Been playing shitty in duel today. 3-5 all day erry day olo. Anyways, here's the current update on the progress.
AMP06 seems finished, meaning that all that's left to do is AMP08,09, and 11. For AMP09, towers will be added in the middle to give people a place to plant Treble Sentry. These will also count as weapon spawns, to make the match go a little faster. Most likely, these weapon spawns will have metal blade and thunder bolt on opposing sides, with thunder beam in the middle.
AMP11 will need to have its teleporters fixed, since one of them doesn't seem to want to actually function. I have no idea why. Anyways AMP11 will be the last stage(?) in the map pack, assuming SSW's ctf map isn't completed by then. Review copies of AMP06 have been sent out to gather feedback. AMP09 will be completely revised (again, lol) tonight. And now, because people looooove progress, here's a screenshot of AMP11: Adjective Location. No seriously, that's what I'm calling it. I'm so sick of seeing people name their maps like this. Dust Bowl, Strange Castle, underwater cave or some bs like that. Most people don't get annoyed by that. I do just because.

Items not added yet because lol, incomplete.

I haven't been able to look at the AMP pack, since I'm on a family trip. Once I get back, the map pack better not disappoint me. BB, if ya feel that ya can stomache more critism, I'd be more than happy to server ya some more.
