Found a few more things that are little bugged. In amp07 there is a patch of land with no texture in the room next to the lava falls that lead to the fire rail.

(click to show/hide)

There is also in amp11 if you go to the crystal room near the double ladder there is animated crystals on the walls next to the ladder but the entire room in non animated crystals. Not sure if you did on purpose or just overlooked.

AMP Map Review: As reviewed by Ivory

Today, we see a mappack that was started months ago by DTD, but DTD's interest in the project died down, so he handed it off to BlueBrawl to overlook. With help from some other community members, we finally see a release. Was the wait worth it? How does this mappack fare in the eyes of one of Cutstuff's veteran mappers? Let's find out.

AMP01: This map was originally a duel map for the first cutstuff mapping competition. I'm glad to see that DTD did pick up on some of the feedback. The layout was excellent, but it was hampered by poor weapon choices. Top Spin is no longer here, which is a great plus. However, the map is suffering. Weapons like Star Crash and Super Arm are easily accessible, sitting out in the open. Seeing how narrow the level is, Super Arm and Star Crash will end up being over dominate. On the other hand, the weapon that is the most out of the way is Search Snake. Which lacks much usefulness on this map.

AMP02: One of the biggest things I have to ask is why am I climbing up a ladder, to jump to a bunch of danger boxes to get a big health unit and a W Tank? It's in a dead end. Unless I'm missing something, it's not worth the trouble. Especially when the other W Tanks are so easy to get. Otherwise, a good map. Good size, good distance, easy to navigate.

AMP03: Interesting map. I like the idea of it, but it suffers from one major problem. There is far too much distance. Now, before I go further, I want to make it clear. Size =/= Distance. While I believe Savior coined the term "Ivory Big" to describe big maps, it isn't accurate. You can have large maps and have them play perfectly fine, so long as the distance isn't huge. The distance in this map is the result of the long, long runs. Straight up and down. It makes the map feel far, far larger than it really is.

The Waterpit feels tacked on. It just kinda adds to the size and distance of the level. Not to mention getting out of the water pit from the pool side involves jumping against a specific section of wall, otherwise you can't get out. It's an annoyance when being chased.

AMP04: Simple size, simple level. Also introduces one of DTD's new weapons. I can't say much on the weapon due to not testing it online yet. The map feels like your standard 4 way symmetrical map. I suggest removing the blizzard spikes. Players consider blizzard spikes as a sign of a hazard, which in this level they aren't. Don't mix up what players understand. The pits may be a hindrance, as it's easy to fall back into them.

AMP05: I like the concept of this level. The layout is good and interesting. Top Spin is rather easy to obtain. I don't have much to say on this one.

AMP06: Ballade Cracker, Rolling Cutter, and Top Spin are all easily accessible? All 3 are powerful weapons, they shouldn't be that simple to get. Combined with the size and narrowness of the rooms, it allows all 3 to be powerful without too much work from the user's end.
The layout is easy to transverse, and being stuck on the bottom floor doesn't look like a death sentence, which can be a problem for a lot of maps like this.

AMP07: Ah, AMP07. Easily my most disliked map of the pack. Now why is this?
It's massive, I compared it to the size of my biggest I-Pack map. While mine was slightly bigger, this map had far more distance in it. There were more large open areas, more places to run, and the weapon layout is horrid. Powerful weapons like Centaur Flash, G-Hold, Mirror Buster, Ballade Cracker, Etc. sit out in the open, easy for anyone to grab. The proximity of the weapons is also a problem. Having one or two close is fine, but having Mirror Buster, Leaf Shield and G Hold all in a row is not. It feels as if you tried to have every single weapon in a level. Super Adapter will laugh at everyone as it allows anyone to get away - and get lost - in this massive maze of a level.

Ultimately the problem comes down to distance, and weapons being laid out with what feels like not much thought.

AMP08: Another map that loses points to distance.  It takes far, far too long to transverse from one side to another. The fact that it's pretty much one solid run forward is the problem. There are the teleporters, but they only help so much with the overall run.

Also, why is Crystal Eye under the crusher? The map is far too open for it to be of any major use. The Oil Pit is rather pointless, the only things on it are a few small pickups and flame blast. It's easy to go around it, I can't imagine too many people falling into it.

On the plus side, a lot of the more powerful weapons like Super Arm and Rolling Cutter do take some effort to get.

AMP09: Ah, I remember this map. Anyways, another map that suffers from "incredibly long run times", or distance. The middle outside section suffers from this. It takes far, far too long to run across it. Leaf Shield on this map is going to be a pain, since Metal Blade is the only weapon capable of transverse the massive distance fast. Yet it's easily dodgeable at that distance.

AMP10: I recall this map as well. Hasn't changed too too much since I last saw it. I like the layout and certainly think it's one of the stronger maps in the pack. Good weapon layout, good layout, good aesthetics, good job.

AMP11: This map is also another good one. It's size is a good point, there are no problems with distance. Getting around is easy, the weapons are laid out very well. Good work.

AMP12: I won't comment on it too much, since it's layout is supposed to be DTD's avatar. Finally, I see a Ballade Cracker somewhere that makes sense. I have to climb up all the way to get it... or use Rush Jet. Sakugarne allows for a nice fast climb, or to drop down on unsuspecting players. Top Spin is very easy to get, and I foresee players guarding the high grounds with it. Seeing as Rush Jet is the only option for getting up, I think it should be replaced with Slash Claw. Overall, the fact it's DTD's avatar makes the stage neat, so I'll overlook the way the stage is laid out.

So with that, I close off my review. Good job, I enjoyed most of the maps, a considerable amount of work has gone into detail. The main problems I found are in level distance and weapon layouts. I hope my review will be of use to you and DTD in improving this great mappack.

So, do I gain your undying respect now?

STIMUS = DarkAura - MMX Sting Chameleon's theme 8-bit

Bitch, please.

EDIT: Ok, maybe I'm going a bit too far on subjective criticism here, but come on. Lava Lake's Sting Chameleon is subpar compared to mine.

Hell, if you actually wish to keep that song as a 2A03 cover instead of an MMC5 one, I actually have an updated version of my 2A03 cover of this song.

THANK YOU BASED IVORY. For that, you deserve a cookie.

Also, I like how my maps don't get too much hate. It's almost as though you don't want to break my mapping spirit. With this, me and DTD will get straight to work on some of the ideas you've posted.
Also, @ Muashi-COM....
Bro, you shouldn't have done that. Next version of the map pack, you're hearing a different version of STIMUS. And it's not your version either. Prepare for something good.

It's still in v1, so I don't mind any of the criticism. It helps a lot.

Ok got a few more things I just found. On amp07 you can use the rush jet in the room with the slash claw and go through the upper wall.

(click to show/hide)

In amp05 I'm not sure if its just the way the waterfall is made but at a certain distance there it disappears on me. Not sure if it happens to anyone else though.

(click to show/hide)

And last on amp03 on the window ledges in the room with the air shooter and the plant shield you can walk on the ledges and see very little grass and in this picture there is blue spot as well. The blue spot is right where I'm shooting.

Go ask DTD that question. He's the one who made it.
