Endless Stage/Attack
« on: July 27, 2011, 11:51:04 AM »
Hi.

I recently bought Mega Man 9. Going to keep playing until I have all the challenges done. But I will eventually get Mega Man 10 too, get everything I can, etc.

UND I'd like to try one of the endless modes. My question is - from your experience, which game - MM9 or MM10 has the better endless mode?

I could get both of course, and I'm kinda tempted to do that. But.. If you think one is way better than the other, I'll just spend them points on some special stages/characters/modes/whatever

Personally i havent played the endless attack of megaman 10 myself.
But my guess is that they are both quite awesome :)

If you really can not decide you might want to concider the bosses/weapons of the game and which set you favor.

I'd prefer MM9's endless mode if only because I can mess around with the weapons more.

Oh

Yeah, got the MM9 one.

Better weapons.. Seriously, in MM10, I find the M. Buster more useful than any other weapon, except for few places in the Wily stages. Chill Spike and Thunder Wool are too situational.

And MM9 robot masters are way easier.

Pansy, you ought to challenge yourself!

Also, I think the MM10 set-list is pretty great:
B-Cracker:  T-Wool in toss-able format.  Not to mention a HUGE ammo buff.  Nothing else needs to be said.
C-Bomb:  Redirectable bomb; lets you take out enemies from a distance where they can't hurt you.  More freedom than M-Missile, as powerful as the other C-Bomb.
C-Spike:  First off, great ammo.  Second, this lets you freeze any enemy just by shooting it once.  Then you can switch to another weapon and wail on them until they're dead.  Or you could just run past like a wimpy little girly-man.
Mirror-B:  A limited-ammo Proto Shield.  And we all know how useful that thing can be.
R-Striker:  A bit of an oddball (no pun intended) , this weapon has a decent ammo count for...decent damage...okay, I'll give you just this one, I hate R-Striker.
S-Flare:  Does decent damage, and really has two uses:  shoot the pellet out towards an enemy, or shoot it out and let the waves catch anything chasing you.
S-Crusher:  Has a very high ammo count (Which makes up for its low damage) , and has a very interesting trajectory that makes taking out enemies easy.
T-Wool:  Does devastating damage, and many moving enemies will just walk into it like an idiot.  Situational?  Yes.  Bad?  No.  And again...
T-Blade:  Typical "destroy-that-thing-in-front-of-you" weapon, but also good because of each blade's individual trajectory.  Ballade's stage proves this weapon's worth.
"T-Wool wouldn't suck if it didn't have so little ammo."
 - Me
W-Cutter:  For its decent damage and good ammo count, this weapon is useful enough without its special ability--which is to let you climb walls.  Climb walls.  You wouldn't believe how many times I averted certain doom by clinging to one wall of a bottomless pit and fired a W-Cutter.
W-Shield:  With eight bubbles of attack power, you can just stand there and let this shield wail on your enemy.  Its deflection power is above decent, too--at least, when you first activate it.

Gee, maybe you'd know how to use these weapons if you bought the MM10 one.
In all due seriousness, though, I got both.  So, yeah.

I like Triple Blade because it acts as a shotgun in close range.
With Triple Blade, you could easily bypass the weaknesses of many of the RMs in that game.

Situational? Yes. Bad? No.

What?

WHAT?

That contradicts. In Mega Man, weapons that are situational ARE bad. What would you consider bad? Power Stone? Top Spin? Well, I've seen people say they know some places where these weapons are PERFECT. But they are still sucky, because there are only few of such places. Also, in such places, you can very often use another weapon instead.

So yes, Thunder Wool is terrible

As for your other weapon explanations, it's fair enough, but really similar positive stuff could be said about all weapons in the series, maybe with some exceptions. Besides, the main game has places designed to be useful to certain weapons, so you can find a use for every weapon in the series.

Thats where opinions exist. While I say Top Spin is all around good, pepole say its only good against Gamma and Shadow Man. Pepole say Charge kick is good, ect. And no, thats not a contradiction, because if its only good in parts that doesn't mean it sucks. Mega Man weapons ARENT balanced, most0 will overshadow others, you cant have a weapon be usefull ALL of the time.

Every robot master weapon is situational because you aren't unable to beat the game using only your default buster. Charge Shot is also situational. In fact Proto Man and Bass are also situational.

Period.

At the uttermost one can use a hex editor and make Mega Buster situational as well. Hmm.
