Weapon Competition #2- DONE
« on: August 22, 2011, 12:55:27 AM »
Time to get dark and gloomy. This weapon competition theme is....

You are competing to get this medal:

This competition involves making a weapon based on the Castlevania series! Now you may think that limits you to just a few things right? Wrong! As this is a competition involves quite a bit of creativity, I will allow you to make a weapon of pretty much anything from the 8-bit Castlevanias! You could make any of the subweapons, weapons the enemies/bosses use on you, summon enemies to fight for you, whatever you want! As long as it comes from an 8-bit castlevania game, it's all good!

Weapons will be judged on creativity, uniqueness and overall functionality.

    RULES:
Submissions must contain ONE new weapon that can be run with MM8BDM launcher (via add file).

The weapon must obviously use new sprites. You can use any of the NES/Gameboy castlevania sprites and edit them accordingly. Or if you want to be really fancy, you could make sprites for things in the newer castlevania games! HOWEVER if you do this, they obviously must look 8-bit.

Sounds are not too important as I don't have any ripped at the moment. Feel free to use megaman ones!

     Only one submission per user!

Weapons cannot be posted here until the competition is over (feel free to post screenshots)!

You can include a test map but it will not be judged

Submissions are to be sent to me via PM. I will judge the weapons personally based on creativity, looks and how balanced they feel.
I will stop collecting submissions on the 5th of September, and the winner will be announced shortly after.

Learn how to make weapons here

Get some Castlevania sprites here!

Good luck! Feel free to ask questions about the rules, or editing questions here!

There's plenty of LP's on the castlevania games if you don't want to play them! (I don't blame you, 8-bit ones are tough)

My whole reasoning behind that statement is what you just said, anjo

Never played Castlevania, wanted to give the first one a try, but lack of Wii Points is ouch.

I'm not really too good of a coder as I have no prior knowledge, but oh well.

I can't make no weapons, but I'll have to keep an eye on this!

And...

Yeah, I unofficially submit Blaze's Holy Water weapon.  Check his topic.

Holy water? So simple! Surely we can get some more original ideas in too. There's over 3 games of crazy spooky crap you could work into a weapon

Darn shame Dracula's Wine Glass toss wasn't in an 8bit game. That would've been win.

Not to meantion the non-8bit ones, which would be more original.

If you make the sprites, you could use it. As long as it's from based off a castlevania game (and I can tell it is), I will allow it.

BUT don't forget I'm judging on the best weapons, not the silliest!
