A series of vertical scrolling shooting games that have an emphasis on complex patterns of bullets (unlike, for example, Raiden or Zanac).
The touhou series however also included an Arkanoid clone and a few fighting games.

A lot of people are very fascinated by the characters and the whole world touhou is set in which is why it has such a large and widespread fanbase.

The games themselves are quite good, too.

Officially? No.
But there are lots of fanmade games.
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Fangames#RPG here is a (probably incomplete) list of fanmade RPGs.

So, I did some digging around and found something very pleasing.

Touhou 13.5 finally received a full English Translation! After about a year, they seem to have gotten a format for it down pat. Thoughts?

(Download the Executable file, if you'd like. )

Oh man now only if my laptop could run the thing at more than 35-40 fps.
I'll still grab it though.

I played most of the games, but was very boring. The bosses uses logical schemes for attack, with some timing you can avoid the shots even blind. However the Hisoutensoku was quite good and unique fighting game. I like that one. :D

...That's the point. In Touhou, the Spell Cards follow specific patterns that makes memorization a key factor in progressing through the game. It's what makes the game so unique - In a genre where most games have randomized bullet patterns.

Also hyped for ULiL. Everyone from 13.5 is making a return, all with newly remixed themes from prominent bands/circles that are known for arranging Touhou songs, like Crows'Claw and Silver Forest.

The last words are also really silly. (Motorcycle Jesus~)

Actually the point-moment targeting is the problem with the game. It targets you when he shoot, otherwise it is fire around you. This is what I not like in the shooter Touhou games. For example in Ether Vapor, the enemies shots exactly towards you, while shooting toward where are you moving currently. This combined with some homing shots, and basicly you can avoid the projectiles with reflexes. I know it is really hard to play, but fun. XD

There are some infos about a new Touhou fighting game too. I'm interested in that.

Even if this might be the Best Game in the World.
Your Fanatism made me hate this Franchise so hard.
You Guys Ruined it totally for me.
Just saying your making a Pretty Bad Image out of it.
I hope this Topic dies for the Greater Good. + Megaman.

You just gave us X Reasons to leave the MM8BDM Servers empty.
Just alone how selfish to put it up in the First Place.
I bet you creeped 3 out of 10 away from the community with "this".
Megaman + MM8BDM had to endure this. At least you could have done a own Doom mod.
Touhou totally wrecks whats left of the MM8BDM Players visit on the Servers.
Isnt it awkward how less Megaman Fans show up? Thats isnt the fault of the Megaman Fanbase.

Cutmanmike put such a good work into this Mod. I feel bad for him because of this.
People come here because of the Megaman Franchise. Touhou isnt even mergeable with Megaman.
Maybe its cool in your Eyes, but Lolita-Gothic Maid throwing knives in a Megaman Game, makes me puke out for good reasons.

This is a really silly post, no offense.

You know there were only a handful of old touhou roleplayers back in the day and they all left/stopped ages ago, right? MM8BDM has been touhou RP free for ages now, it's not being harmed by it in the slightest and was barely harmed by it back when it was in full force.

Also this topic is for simple general touhou discussion. It has nothing to do with Mega Man or MM8BDM (General Gaming Discussion) so it's perfectly fine where it stands.

I will agree though that the few roleplayers we had back in the day did make a pretty gross image of Touhou and I wouldn't be surprised if they ruined the series for anyone.
