Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge
« on: January 30, 2012, 05:49:58 PM »
Has anyone bought and played through this on the Game Boy Virtual Console yet? I have a few weeks ago now, and it's still as hard as when I played it on an emulator. The Restore Point feature was a life saver, which the Wii Virtual Console lacked.

So has anyone else bought this for their 3DS? I'm actually wanting Mega Man V now...

P.S. The manual may be the first time the term "Robot Master" was used in an official release.

I'm hoping to get it soon. It looks like quite a bit of fun.

Actually I'm hoping that II, III, and IV come out first, with perhaps Mega Man & Bass's GB port coming later. But yeah, I'm hoping for V to come out soon.

I got it, and I find it weird that he "throws" most of the weapons, but I can get used to it, since it's the first of the Game Boy games.

I saw it, although I'd really like to get Megaman V. That'll probably take ages to get released though.

Sooooo silly that Capcom feels the need to release these things like a dripping faucet. Dr. Wily's Revenge is a cool game, but for a lot of people they find it way too short to justify buying it.

MEGA MAN V, on the other hand, is an all-new Mega Man experience that, without emulators, a large chunk of fans would have never got to experience (because the game is rare). It would no doubt be a hot seller on the VC, and yet, Capcom probably is going to hold off on it for years.

On the Wii Virtual Console, they have maintained this slow, chronological release of Mega Man 1-5, as well as Mega Man X and X2 now in Japan. It's like they want to release Mega Man 7 right when the Virtual Console dies. Fair enough, I guess, since Mega Man 7 is not the most popular in the series by a long shot, but why not put a hot title like Mega Man V out on the virtual shelves, one that will no doubt top charts and draw attention from all the new 3DS owners who are drooling for something good to buy on the nearly-barren online market?

There's probably a long crappy process they have to go through to get games onto the Wii's virtual library, kinda like with XBOX updates. I can't think of any other logical reason release them so slooooowly.

Yeah, but Mega Man IV is sure to sell quite a bit, too. Think about how critics praised that game to the heavens for it's incredible soundtrack and crisp gameplay that was perfected in this installment. People still think this is the second best, if not the best, in the GB series. I'm sure III will also sell a fair number as well.

Also, geezus cripes Rockman World is really hard

I want to know why the hell Wily Wars and Castlevania Bloodlines aren't Wii downloadable yet.  I actually want to buy a legit versions to replace my emulators but they won't let me!

Wily Wars = Well it's basically a 16-bit version of MM1-3 and Nintendo doesn't seem to really post re-releases of some games as VC. (Though not sure if Nintendo themselves knew about Wily Tower in Wily Wars.)

Castle Bloodlines = I don't really know if it will be in or not. It will be eventual.

Virtual Console always had that actually. You basically exit out the game from Wii Menu thing, and you'd still be the same EXACT frame when you reload it from Wii Menu.

I have the original Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge for Game Boy, and I can beat it without restore points in under an hour. There must be something different about your games compared to mine, because it isn't all that hard. Other than having to fight Quick Man with Fire Storm, because that's pretty tough, I have to admit.

Acutally, that's the Wii's Suspend feature you're talking about, which deletes the "save" as soon as you load it up. The Restore Point on the 3DS acts like a single save state slot, which can be reloaded from as many times as you want.

I can definitely understand that, but would there be any problem with them skipping ahead a few games in the series? They sure as heck don't release Street Fighter 1 before getting all the versions of 2 verified.

And it really is a shame to not have Bloodlines and Wily Wars. What's really disheartening about Wily Wars is that the Nintendo Power magazine has had multiple staff polls for their top wanted VC game, with Wily Wars at number 1. You'd think that would mean something, but even editors working on the official magazine distribution for Nintendo in the US have no say in what happens on the mysterioussss Virtual Console.

Sorry for the double-post, but I finally finished this game. Hard, but very fun. Hope II comes out soon.

I'm currently trying to beat the harder hacked version of the game, which the layout of the stages is almost exactly like the original except certain stuff were added, moved, and removed making it much harder than the original. =D
