I got a NES...
« on: February 15, 2012, 09:08:51 PM »
...and it came with Mega Man 3.

Boy, it sure does feel different playing the game on an actual NES... the controller... the actual system... the mono sound... but it feels good.

And, it's getting me back into Mega Man, too.

(I also got Kirby's Adventure, and Super Mario Bros. 3.)

Now, I can fully appreciate the NES.

I got a NES as well. No way to wire it to my old TV, though. It was a gift from an old friend who had no use with such an outdated system. It came with SMB3 and Captain America & the Avengers, 2 controllers, and one of those old cart clean-up gears.

I've still got my old nes and snes and a heaping pile of games packed up in a box somewhere, though with emulators these days I see no need to ever hook them up.  I may put it up on ebay one of these days.  If you ever see a nes for sale with two crashbomb stickers on it, that'd be mine.

Getting an NES for me probably wouldn't be worth it. EU players have to SUFFER with 50fps. That's why I emulate the MM games rather than buying them on VC.

I think that NES is the only retro system that I no longer own.

It broke down and I just didn't feel the need to replace it since emulation is so easy.

I do have one of those duel machines (SNES and NES) though.

But they play the cartridges a little wonky.

So, I love Mega Man 3... it's cool and all... but...

there's....

LAG!

And those god darn glitchy cloud platforms in Snake Man's stage. I could be right in the center of the cloud platform generator, but somehow it knocks me off.

AND THOSE DARN CLOUD MISSLES! RRRRAAAUUGGGHHHHH! THEY KEEP MAKING ME MISS THE PLATFORMS!

As well as the dumb plunger/pole-jumping baby Spring Man things. They're just annoying.

For the platforms, JUMP! JUMP! jump before they appear. If you stand when you go on the platform you will probably die, so land on the platform instead.

As for those stifit things, use top spin if you have it. Top spin is also ideal for half of the other obstacles in the game. (If you have the power to object this statement, then you're doing something terribly wrong.)

Also if you can make spark shock not suck and be a good weapon like every other one in the series, then SHARE YOUR WISDOM WITH ME!!!

That very same thing happened to me on my last birthday ^^
My brother just went and gave me Mega Man 3 and a friend of mine gave a NES :D
It does feel a lot more awesome playing it like that.

I have MM2, 5, and 6 for the NES.  Definitely better on the real system than the Anniversary Collection because WHO THE HELL MAPS JUMPING TO B AND FIRING TO A?

Also, for bonus points, I have the entire main X series on their correct consoles.

SNES: 7, x1-3

PS2: x8 (had x7 as well but sold it because seriously fuck that game)
Wii: 9 and 10
DS: Zero Collection, ZX and ZXA

I legimitly own:

Gamecube: Network Transmission (hard as hell, I never got past Gutsman.EXE without an Action Replay) and Command Mission (I beat the first boss and then forgot about it)
Wii: Mega Man 9 (I beat it once only, not going though its hellish stages again) and Mega Man 10 (had better stage design)
PSP: Mega Man Powered Up (more games need level editors)
DS: Mega Man ZX and Mega Man ZX Advent
3DS: Mega Man I (restore points FTW)
