Let's Talk about the Stone Ages of Skulltag (2007-2008ish)
« on: February 18, 2012, 11:35:21 PM »
Yo, anybody remember these days? Back when there were Real Guns Advanced and regular co-op servers everywhere?!
I had some good times with my buddies DarkSamus, Arwingpilot, and SonicTheJackrabbit. Does (Sniper)109, Faceheadman, Godmode, or K-Yerp sound familiar to anyone?

Hope I can find some people who were around playing ST around '07 through '09 and talk about their experience and good times too.

Cant say im happy about NS either, basically killing off the traditional melee vs range. Not to mention how they all act, and explode if you just dont like it for some reason.

Lots of nostalgic rambling. You know how i am, heh. :P

Do I know you from somewhere?

I didn't exactly play Skulltag (or any online source port of Doom, except maybe a bit of ZDaemon in 2006) until around mid 2008. But even then, there was still a whole lot of regular co-op servers running on familiar megawads such as Alien Vendetta and Hell Revealed, as well as other full games such as Heretic and Hexen.

Back when people still played DOOM on a DOOM source port. That isn't to say I don't like playing non-doom games on ST, like 8BDM. But too many people play mods such as All Out War 2 that the original purpose of Skulltag has almost diminished into obscurity.

There's occasionally servers that try to revive the familiar gameplay we all know and love, but most people just join and leave in less than an hour. Then the servers die and remain dead until someone else gets the idea to try and bring it back. It's a shame that people don't like playing DooM anymore, knowing in mind it's still one of the better shooters out there.

I'm pretty sure he became a drug addict who tries to  hide whenever he can.
