I initially bought the WiiWare version and I loved it. I got Cave Story+ soon after and I love it even more if only because the controls feel more precise, but the remastered soundtrack is also a big part of that. I also tried the original recently, but for some reason it lags on my machine. The game became really easy for me, so I started a hard mode run. I got stuck for a while in the Sand Zone, the Monster X fight, Labyrinth M, and I'm presently stuck on the Core. I still need to get around to beating Ballos. I love the game to death.I don't care what any of you say, I love the WiiWare's soundtrack.Eyes of Flame is the best track in any of the game's soundtrack renditions ever.I also encourage you all to download Cave Story Recomposed if you haven't already.
I have and have only played the original with a translation.Monster X isn't really that hard as long as you can spam lv.2 sword. Sometimes lv.2 sword works better, but not always.
He is not really that hard. Blade lv.3 and Bubble Gun help against the missiles, Your Primary and missiles are good at doing damage, same with the blade if it gets downgraded to lv.2. Fireball is mostly useless in the fight.

(click to show/hide)I sat down and forced myself to finish up the normal mode save to the Blood Stained Sanctuary point. I cleared that and Heavy Press with relative ease (Curly's Nemesis has its benefits), but I wasn't prepared for Ballos and didn't even beat his first form. I might have, but the bones rolling across the floor of the chamber caught me off guard.Oh well, at least the Blood Stained Sanctuary has become far easier, and Heavy Press can be beaten with relative ease once you understand what to do. I also have the Life Pot this time around so I should be able to beat Ballos sooner or later.STILL FIGHTING THE CORE ON HARD ARBLEGARBLE
