Reason why I can't trust people on the net anymore...

Y'know, part of the reason I don't go into chatrooms these days is because I just don't feel comfortable in them anymore. I've had some bad experiences with drama in chats. Of course the only chatrooms I have free access to I know are alright for the most part, but still. I stopped being a chatroom guy after dealing with craploads of drama everywhere. Though the main reason I don't go on chats is because I'm frequently too busy to be bothered, as they tend to distract me from what I'm trying to do.

Sorry all this happened to ya. Nobody really deserves to go through all this. The feeling of being betrayed by your own friend...or friends, for that matter. It's awful, really.

I know, but internet chats always degrade to the same pool of rage and trolling, whether it's on Skype, Xat, Steam, or wherever. Just got to keep communities from stagnating when it comes to the internet.

I've had Skype for a month and I've had no problems yet.

Besides that, this has been a problem with the internet since Internet chats began.
I remember aol town halls being nothing but trolls.

As for the actual topic: idk if it's because ive only been here for about 6 months or so, but i havent made any enemies. cutstuff imo is a nice.. group of people (family perhaps in a way?) which i hope it always stays like. it drives me with motivation to finish my projects

I will say something from a personal point of view-- Joking around with someone lightheartedly is always okay. But trying to make friends with someone just so you can purposely turn around and stab them in the back is just bad. :l And I only use skype in groups with a couple people in them, not the big groups anymore.

I guess there is one thing Gawayno can learn from this, though: Don't trust people with "Sonic" in their namesWho you have in a particular group chat is important. When you added "drama guy" to the chat, the chat was killed with drama. Sometimes a single person can go against a group's dynamics and it's important to consider that before you  add anyone. (This community had a 3-person chat that was killed by the addition of a fourth. It can happen in any scenario!) Not only that: The response to this happening is always a basic collective-action problem. No one wants to remove him, so they all just... Migrate. Not worth the effort from my point, really. I'd just axe him and take credit. At least I'd be honest about what I was doing and not secretly hiding.

The last one is really the worst, though. Ivory had to lock his photobucket and that made me sad. Sometimes you just can't take chances. After all, trolls are predictable. "You can always expect a dishonest man to be dishonest", you know.  

(Speaking of him. Gawayno wants people to know how he feels, and all you lot care about is Ivory!? For shame!)

You don't understand. Ivory is an ancient puzzle passed down through generations of Cutopians, from the legendary Guts Mountain to the humble Wind City to the current electronic CutNet. Apparently, there's a rumor that whoever can crack this mighty riddle will receive an unimaginable power that has been locked away for centuries! This isn't just some "game", there's a lot at stake here!

Trusting anonymous people over the internet that have nothing to lose?

They have no morality to lose, because no one knows who they really are.
They have no reputation to lose, because no one knows who they really are.
They have no self-respect to lose, because they can act in any way they please, because no one knows who they are and thus aren't expected to act in a certain fashion.

In the world of avatars, everyone does and thinks what they want, and does not have to give a shit about you. As in real life, respect towards your person isn't a requirement to live. And since there's no real and definitive social punishment for trolling over the internet (in fact, it's quite the opposite), there is no incentive for stopping.

THAT, m'lady, was your first mistake: surrounding yourself of the wrong people: those who think the internet is a serious place (and therefore made the same mistake you did of trusting anynomous people), and those who don't (which in turn don't respect anyone because of the anonymity on the internet).

I've had several interviews over the past few months for various different internships and jobs.  About 10% of the questions were about my technical skills.  90% were on my attitude, behavior, and my level of cooperation with others.  It doesn't matter if you're able to make God's gift to the Earth:  if you have no respect for others, you're not getting hired.  Plain and simple.

It is my own opinion that you're not required to feel respect or empathy for others to exist. You do not exist for the sole purpose of living in society. You conditionate to this because of the moral and social rewards of being respectful and empathic towards others. This is not always the case on the internet.
