I classify the weapons to their type, like Hilman, only cutting a few from his list (Shield, Barricade, Misc, Light)

The idea of god-tier as a separate category is something I find strange.  Are Jewel Satellite, Metal Blade and Triple Blade the only contenders for this title in your mind, Mr. X?  Is god-tier essentially saying 'broken' or simply that they are the best there is at what they do?

Let me put it this way, to everyone:  Given absolute freedom among all the games in the classic series, are there any weapons you imagine you might occasionally pull out over the three listed, and I mean in a stage, not just as a boss weakness to exploit?

Edit:
For my own part I think I'd put Doppler Attack, Thunder Beam, Ballade Cracker and Spark Chaser as strong contenders.

Jewel Satellite is like taking Skull Barriers ability to block things and move while active and giving it Star Crash's ability to be shot.
Metal Blade has the ability to be fired any direction, and a shit ton of ammo
Triple Blade has a shit ton of ammo and hits enemies three times up close, making it make short work of most anything.

The only other ones I can think off the top of my head is Tornado Blow (clear screen AND extra jump height) and Black Hole Bomb (a void you can easily set up as a shield against bullets or a vacuum for most enemies).

Which, are of course both in Mega Man 9, alongside Jewel Satellite

I would say Gravity Hold could fit into God Tier, due to it's screen clearing nature and fairly small ammo consumption.

I'd disagree, you get 7 shots I believe. Which isn't that bad. But you can't completely screen wipe half the enemies unless you
A. Weaken them first
B. Use multiple Gravity Holds.

Which makes Tornado Hold a much better candidate for screen wiping god tier than Gravity Hold

I dunno, I always found Gravity Hold to be pretty darn weak for all the ammo it uses up. Centaur Flash may not have the neat special effects, but it does more damage for the exact same cost.

Gravity hold is a lot better in rom hacks such as Wily's Dream Space where you actually get 14 uses.

Centaur Flash does a much better job than Gravity hold because it's also an instant usage weapon but it destroys most enemies in one hit. Gravity hold's still good though.

What I don't understand is how Spark Shock, the literally worst weapon in the series, doesn't get nearly as much hate as other weapons that are actually do stuff really well. Is there just something that I'm completely missing from it?

Perhaps Spark Shock would be more useful if, when it struck an airborne enemy, it would paralyze it, and cause it to fall to the ground, being destroyed upon impact. That's what I've thought.

You're missing Rockman World 3, where it is a godsend against huge enemies. It can freeze them, and you can switch out and kill them in one hit with a Drill Bomb or Dust Crusher.

Seriously, Spark Shock was really useful in that game. Plus it isn't that bad in Mega Man 3- you can freeze those goddamn monkeys in Hard Man's stage while they're in the air and climb ladders in peace at least :V

I'm not including MM3GB because I haven't played that and it's not the original one that most people are used to.

The only use I've found for Spark Shock is freezing Big Stompers. The monkeys are kinda tricky to avoid when you use Spark shock as you (probably) need to get timing right and stuff. Top spin just works so much easier for that, as you don't even need to use any effort or worry about monkey annoyance if you miss.

Well, you'll never understand how it's so useful then.

I might experiment with it a bit more. I know how it's meant to be useful, freezing enemies and running ahead, yeah, but there aren't enough parts in the game where that works. Those snufit lookalikes in Snakeman's stage can be frozen after they jump over you, run they come running back onto the screen to cause more annoyance >_>

Yeah, I'd definately rather have Tornado Blow over any of the other screen-wipers if only because it actually has a secondary use.  I'd still usually rather have Spark Chaser though.  Or Hornet Chaser for that matter, which I use a lot more than TB in MM9.

God damn MM9 has some awesome weapons.  It just isn't fair to the other games for so much badassery to be concentrated all in one title.
