He did, but it's got an inaccurate hair color and apparently, it really bugged Smash.
On the flipside, though, I do like the Mega Man-styled skin better.  Normally it wouldn't be so big a deal, but there's something about the Cave Story sprites that make them look really out-of-place.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Blaze made Mega Man-styled Quote and Curly Brace first. BTW, Curly will look terrible with that vacant grin on at all times.

I knew of the Curly skin's existence, but I never knew that Megaman (of all people) was the one to have made it. Huh. He never mentioned it in his topic either; I even flipped through all 20 pages of it just to double-check, but nope. Not a single mention! I guess it sort of slid on the front page without me noticing?

Actually, I could care less about the hair colour flipping around. What bothered me were a few things that were changed in the conversion to "Mega Man style". While I think the sprites are rather nice, I don't think that sprite style is the best fit for Curly. Besides the eyes and the hands, it's also an edit of Roll. Not to devalue Megaman's version or anything, but I think this Curly skin would look a tad bit nicer. I'm pretty sure there are worse tragedies on the forums (like those four Mario skins... so pro, am I right) and players can simply use the Curly they like better. Or use them both. Or use NOTHIN' AT ALL!

Anyway, here's some more progress on Curly. She has a front pose and walking frames!

Normally it wouldn't be so big a deal, but there's something about the Cave Story sprites that make them look really out-of-place.

It's probably because the Cave Story sprites lack any black on them whatsoever, unless it's a character colour like black hair. I added some outlining so the contrast wouldn't be nearly as sharp. Normally more outlining is a terrible idea, but with the interest of fitting into 8BDM I think it actually looks a bit better this way.

I didn't know that either... and I can't even find Blaze's versions. As for the smile, that sort of makes Curly Brace... well, Curly Brace! Even in her own game she always ran around with that big smile, whether shooting your legs off with her Machine Gun or being surrounded by angel robots in the Blood-Stained Sanctuary. The only time she doesn't grin like that is when she's knocked out.

That being said, if you have any suggestions I will be happy to take them.

Huh. Never noticed that before. Suddenly all those "Curly is broken/malfunctioning/insane/etc." theories make sense.
