I think it's technically possible to get fish as there is water by the shelter. As long as it's close by you shouldn't get lost.

Labada decides to run out to save the day!
At least for himself!
He starts running until he comes across the river.
Though he only found it as he fell in, which scared off any fish that might have been in the area. But hey he got a drink!
Remembering the way he came, Labada is able to make it back to the shelter.
