Yeah, now that I've updated, the internal browser is kind of working.  Now the only problem is that it shows ALL servers, not just the MM8BDM ones.

The internal browser is kinda crappy, it displays all servers for that current version. Some (like yourself) used this to find MM8BDM specific games but now they've pulled the plug on that possibility. Ugh, how annoying. Not everyone has the patience to figure all this crap out.

That makes sense, let's make it less user friendly.  Oh well, at least I can still connect to the server, it's just less convenient.  Thanks for the help!

Yeah I think the reason behind it is to try to convince people into upgrading Skulltag. It just sucks that I happened to release the demo with an alpha version. If I knew this was coming I would have held back, but nope  :ugeek: At least connecting via IP will still work, and /v/ and friends don't seem to mind that.

Ok, I've got a server up, but I'm not sure if people can connect.

My IP address:  173.25.28.186

I'll try to leave this up as much as possible today, since I might want to play and it appears that none of the other servers have the updated version of Skulltag.

There should be a UK server up pretty soon, permanent too

Alright, I need some help here.

I've managed to finally get a server running(sort of) on my Mac but I'm running into just a few problems.

1. I can't get the game mode to Deathmatch no matter what I do. The game mode IS set to that in Doomseeker, but when I run the server it starts it in Cooperative every time, no matter what. Is there any other way to force it into Deathmatch mode?

2. My server does not have a name even though I gave it one. A helpful person that found his way into my server told me it shows up blank and that's it. It appears the same way for me and my roommate. Any ideas?
EDIT: I've managed to figure out that I can name my server, but it can only be one word or a group of characters as long as they are connected in some way. For example: I used "fuck" and it worked, but "fuck_you" also works as long as I have the underscore in there. If I replace it with a space(simply "fuck you"), it refuses to display it at all.[/list]
I'm also running into this same issue with the MOTD(Message of the day) box. It's doing the exact same thing.

The server IS working. I can get into it myself, my roommate can get into it with me, and the person(I didn't catch his name) that managed to stumble into my server could get in and play just fine. It's just that my server has no name can only have a one word name or line of text and is always in Cooperative mode.
This could possibly be a glitch with the Mac port of Skulltag, but I'm going to look for other options here before blaming the problems on that.

In the server window you should be able to change it in the server window using the command "sv_hostname Megaman deathmatch" or whatever. As for game mode, "deathmatch 1" and then "map MM1CUT" to reset the game should do it.

I don't know, I'll have to test it later or something.

I'm having a new problem now where my server will show up on the list sometimes and others it's like it doesn't exist at all. I can't see it then, and neither can my roommate.
The really strange part is that none of my settings have changed between the times it appears and disappears. It's just there sometimes, and others it's not.

From what I understand that may not work that well. Is there a command to have the server browser to only search for servers running the specific wad.

Nope. You'll just have to filter them down in DoomSeeker or whatever to find what you're looking for.

    I was afraid of that.

anyways, I started work on a comprensive server guide. I figured include everything from the simple lan server, to setting up multiple servers on a remote box. I would also like some help from the community.

I finally managed to get everything going after finding a list of server commands and stuff and having to put everything in manually. At one point, the weapons and items wouldn't respawn and I had to track down the commands to fix that.
I'm testing various configurations now before I throw the info in my guide.

I think a big part my problems from before are Doomseeker's fault, to be honest. I think it's just really buggy sometimes.

    Thanks for the help, Mike.

I ended up using IDE to generate the batchfile, cfg file, and this RSP file wich I have no idea what it does. Then I went hunting down the commands to do a log file just how I just wanted to figure out how to prep this kind of server for a remote box for my clan.

Mako, I honestly never heard of anyone running any kind of game server, or any server on a mac before. I am curious if you are much you know of linux.
