I did it!

And with that, I survived a fun first episode, a kind of not as fun second episode that had a weird fish in it, the amazing third episode and after that pure agony made by the man who designed places worse than hell, Sandy Petersen.

Oh goodness, don't remind me of the fourth episode; the horror,
the horror
.
By the way, what was your favourite
Quake
level? The brown castle, or the greenish-brownish temple, or the other brown castle?

Oh god, those spawns... I still think that episode is one of the scariest things i've played.
(also, am I the only one who prefers the original renderer and its not-completely-smooth animations?)

My favorite levels?
E1M9: Ziggurat Vertigo, followed by E3M6: The Chambers of Torment and E3M4: Satan's Dark Delight.
And yes, Episode 4 really is scary.

A combination of World 3-1, and World 5-1, thanks to Warp Zone.

Well, I've inserted my own character into my hack.
The only sprites I haven't made for her are the cape ones
HOWEVER, for people who would not want to play as my character (perfectly understandable), There's also a "LUIGI GAME", where you'd play as Luigi instead (although I'd probably change it into Mario at some point)
I'm thinking of making a "Demo1" version, which has everything I have done so far.
So the levels I've edited currently, are
(click to show/hide)
Yoshi's Island 1 - Plain Plains (Similar to the original level)
Yoshi's Island 2 - Yoshi Valley (Has nothing to do with MK64, contains a few enemies not found in the original level)
Yoshi's Island 3 - Blue Grass Heights (An athletic stage with blue grass)
Yoshi's Island 4 - Ropey Rapids (LOTS OF ROPES AND FISH)
Iggy's Castle (Similar to the original, but more Thwomps and Magikoopas)
Donut Plains 1 (Similar to the original)
Donut Plains 3 (Unfinished, will be similar to the original 1-3)
Donut Plains 4 - High-Speed Hills (Stage using a custom sprite from STARSW.zip. May contain a hedgehog)
Morton's Castle (Almost done, rather similar to the original)
Donut Secret 2 - Slippery Slopes (VERY difficult Ice level, with many steep slopes)
Top Secret Area (Basically the original game's stage, but enhanced)
Vanilla Dome 3 - Skull Raft River (Volcano stage, where you spend almost the entire level on a Skull Raft)
Vanilla Secret 2 - Piranha Plateau (A stage made out of mostly pipes, meant to be similar to World 7 of SMB3)
Butter Bridge 1 (VERY unfinished, identical to the original, but you're in the unused cage)
Cookie Mountain (Even more unfinished, will be like the NSMB mountain stages)
Ludwig's Castle - Tower of Turtles (Only the last part is done)
Forest of Illusion 1 - Giant Jungle (Very unfinished, will be a stage like SMB3's World 4)
Forest of Illusion 2 - Poison Pond (VERY unfinished, will be an underwater stage set in a pool of NSMB-like purple water)
Forest of Illusion 3 - Bland Bayou (DKC2 themed level)
Forest of Illusion 4 - Forest Maze (Similar to a level in ASMWCP, you need to go down the right pipes to find the exits)
Chocolate Island 4 (Very unfinished, will be SMB2 themed)
Front Door (Unfinished, but will require you to go through ALL 8 areas, instead of just 2)
Star World 5 - Lakitu Hell (Super difficult stage, where every enemy is Lakitu themed)
Gnarly - Treetop Tumble (DKC3 themed stage)
Tubular - MountSide (An Untitled Story themed stage)
Groovy (SMB1 & SMB:TLL themed stage)
Outrageous - Birdo's Realm of Pain (Stage where every enemy is a SMB2 styled Birdo)
Funky - Final (Mostly finished, will be a super long, and super hard stage)
Of course, it'd come with an SRM file for bypassing incomplete and unbeatable levels.
Also, check out this screen from Donut Plains 1

Looks interesting, Geno. Are those more mockup screenies, or an actual hack? If it's real, I'd love playing it when it's done (or whatever you feel like getting done.)

Yep, those are the actual screenshots of it, running in ZSNES (which does not have a funky "filter" of sorts that makes the colours 100% accurate to how they are displayed on a TV screen, (and not to mention the inability to draw the last row of pixels,) but whatever).
(Also, speaking of inaccuracies, the only music tracks that have problems in higan are the versions of DKC's "DK Island Swing" (which has a loud crash sound at the beginning), and DKC3's "Water World" (which outright crashes the sound output, which also consequently crashes the game after another music change) )
In fact, here's some more, showing a new name for "Groovy", as well as the levels "Piranha Plateau", "Giant Jungle", "Forest Maze", and "Skull Raft River".
(click to show/hide)
As you can see, I haven't changed the map sprite. Mainly because the patch I'm using to give Luigi his own graphics does not extend to the map screen sprites.
It also does not cover the blushing overlay when Toadstool kisses the player, which as it currently stands, not only is it too low for Luigi's face, but it is COMPLETELY wrong when playing as my character (I'll probably just erase the overlay completely)
(click to show/hide)
Not only are there working Piranha Plants, but there are also green SMB3 ones with short stems!
NOT PICTURED: Venus Fire Traps, although there are many of them in "Skull Raft River" (and this stage too!)
(click to show/hide)
NOT SHOWN: Giant Goomba and Giant Spiny.
The Goomba walked of that ledge there, and the current Giant Spiny graphics look terrible
(click to show/hide)
"Where's that damn fourth- err, I mean SECOND Star Piece?"
(click to show/hide)
Taking a visual cue from the SMB3 hack "Mario Adventure", this volcano has a visible lava lake extending into the background
So, I guess once I get around to completing all the half finished levels I got so far, as well as finishing up some sprites (HOORAY FOR INEXPLICABLY TRANSFORMING INTO A MARIO RECOLOUR!!1!111!1!), I'll IPS this sucker up and stick it on here with an .SRM file with all the stages (Except the Switch Palaces and the final level) beaten, for DEMO 1.
Although I don't know where to put it. The only really close to appropriate place that CURRENTLY exists is my art topic, which the only thing from this hack I'd really think of putting on there are all the graphics that I made custom for it.
Of course, I could always give it it's own topic, right here in this subforum, if that's alright.
