So...anyone remember that one project I was working on?

Of course you don't, because I was busy reworking some things.
Mostly the HUD, engine, ugly default color tiles, and resolution.
But mostly the HUD.
(click to show/hide)
I feel like the left side of the HUD is a little empty.

Well, that looked lovely and fun until the last couple of images.

Well it's starting to come together.

Needs a bit more reworking.

Reminds me of Terraria.

This is pretty much the "hey look at my pixel art while I do little programing" phase.
Definitely the main challenge is getting the random level generator working properly, while making it seem like a somewhat decent hand crafted level at the same time. Even though it might not have as much flare as a typical standard level, I'm anticipating to see what the outcome is.

He was probably referring to my post here.
(Especially considering the "lovely and fun until the last couple of images" perfectly describes said post of mine)

Oh, whoops! That actually makes more sense, I just got confused because there wasn't a quote.
Anyways, here's another screenshot.

No game is complete without spikes in the most bizarre locations or being able to crouch in the air
Also, parallax

Yeah, I apologize for that I was totally gaping out back then and missed the entire post just before me. Your thing looks pretty cool, too, Blu. The main character sprite is kinda' I Wanna Be The Guy style, at least in part. Is this a Mario hack or did you whip this up yourself?

I'm making this in Game Maker Studio with my own graphics and such, and because of this I'll hopefully be able to sell it commercially (Right around $15 on Steam).

Whoa there, hold your horses. Remember that there's no shame in asking for help; not everyone can be a Pixel or a Toady. See if you can get a "professional artist" to do some better tiles for you on commission, for instance. (I recommend FuPoo; he could use a break from doing fetish porn for tuna heads on deviantART.)

I know that I'm never going to be the world's greatest pixel artist, but one of my main goals with this project is to see how far I can go without having to team up with anyone (of course, this might be broken by the time that I have to compose music). I have tried making other tiles, but this seemed to be the best for me, at least for now. I am definitely going to say, without bragging at least, my skills have gotten a lot better at doing pixel art things (or digital art as a whole) than when I started.

You should definitely get comments on your work from people who are willing to see you improve.

I know I plug them a lot, but I suggest Spriters Resource for that. I just advise you to not get frustrated with their criticism, as it will likely not end well.

Yeah...I admit that I wasn't really saying the best I could of, and I apologize for that. I'll be sure to keep these two things in mind.

So, I've been playing A Link to the Past, lately.

Dumb guard #1

Incompetent guards #2 and #3 (hard to tell there's two since they're phasing through each other.)

And Idiot Hero #4

Handful of screenshots of various N64 games that I've already posted a ton of screenshots for

I forgot how I made this happen to the DK64 title screen, and that makes me sad
(click to show/hide)

Yep. Definitely did not use any cheat codes on DK64 at all

This is why a code to turn those yellow star particles you see when Mario hits a wall into Lakitus is amazing
