Although it isn't active now, I'm currently planning for DOS to only have one Wily stage. I think most expansions should only have one present.

That being said, I would prefer to see Dr. Mad's Stage 3 being represented, just because of that music.
MM1 had 2 Wily maps to ballance between the fact it had 2 less stages then the other games. And Rokko also has 2 less stages cause of only 6 robot masters.

And DOS only having 1 Fortress stage makes sense cause both games only had 1, the 1's was a tiny straight forward stage using textures from the boss stages, and the 2nd had a real stage.

I'd say 2 maps, but I would need to see the stages.  Also maybe do what the MM8 expansion did, where the 2 maps each could play 1 of 2 songs (all 4 stage songs are in, but only 2 maps, each able play 1 of 2).

I still think the Mega Man 7 dev team were greedy fucks but that's not the point so


everyone's voting 4 anyway and honestly I'd be fine with just the 1 stage

Anyways, the reason only one stage isn't an option is sort of something I want to keep out of the public until the expansion gets released (Yes, I'm building confidence that this shall be released, so sue me).  The most I can give you is a whimsical "it's a secret~", but I know that's not a satisfying answer.

I still think basing it off of Cutman Hell would probably be the best option, however, I don't know how it does this, nor am I a skilled mapper.

The flipping effect would only happen every few minutes, meaning it shouldn't be too disruptive....

Just an idea though. Not even certain if it's possible.

I saw it mentioned that Gravity Man's stage wasn't exactly the same as it was in MM5 as it is in MM8BDM.
My rebuttal to that point is that the gimmick wasn't flipping around; the gimmick was gravity, which is without a doubt in affect in the stage. Rolling Man's stage, however, absolutely requires the flipping gimmick or at least the closest thing to it.

Teleporting every player would be really awkward and impractical. That said, instantaneously changing the heights of the floor and ceiling to make it look like the stage has flipped could work. That is, have the area fade to black (with some kind of warning), then while the stage is completely dark, run a script which changes the floor heights and textures to correspond with the ceiling's, and vice versa.

As for the Dr. Mad stages...
MM7 had 4 Wily stages, but at the cost of the maps being rushed.
RNC had 4 Wily stages (which weren't rushed), but the expansion was delayed several months because it was waiting on 3 of 4 Wily stages.
Avoid following these two expansion's examples; stick to as little Dr. Mad stages as possible.

I don't know how those stages are, but I think it's better to keep them at two. It makes for better layout possibilities and the maps can have a decent number of textures to work with. I'd prefer having two interesting maps over four symmetric ones.

That's just it.  I am legitimately out of ideas for how we might implement it.  Perhaps it would be better to just forget about it completely; I'm not sure, I'm not a level designer.  My concern is who claims what.

The overwhelming vote seems to be for 4 stages, but those actually voicing an opinion are saying that there should be as few as possible.  I don't think the fourth Mad Stage would make good map material to begin with...so here's what we'll do.  We'll expect two Mad Stages to start (Based off of Stage 1 and Stage 2/3), and if someone wants to make a third later, that would be fine.

Meanwhile, MissingNo2 (You know him as Mister Gessert) has given up on the skin he was working on.

This was all he finished of Rolling-Man.  Now someone else must take his place and finish the job.
