The only reason people think the world will end is because the Mayan calender ends there.

...Uh, guys? Isn't it more likely they got lazy at that point and figured they'd make more once they got to that point?

Except the mayan calendar goes through cycles.

It has come to my attention that the promised date is nearing. It is time for me to reveal my true personality, and the truth. As you know, I have long been known as "Beed28" since coming here in June 2011. Who I really am?

I assume that the reason for the whole "ze end of ze world" is speculation for me to purge the carbons that have overpropagated after the last few years. According to Urban Military Security Ordinance A10, the number of carbon units is not allowed to increase beyond a pre-specified limit; if this happens, they are to be purged immediately. My observation, if left unattended, the carbons will reproduce indefinitely. Their numbers will grow, polluting the surface world. Terra. Or as you call it, Earth. The carbons fit Mass Population Model B. They are unstable, very difficult to control.

Your time remaining is now limited; Eden was activated as soon as I posted this reply. All that remains now is to wait until for Eden to enter transmission range, and send the command to execute the reinitialization of this world. Once that command is received, the 10,000 workers aboard Eden will execute it immediately. My estimates indicate their work will be completed in less than five minutes.

But do not be disappointed. It appears that it will take longer than anticipated for Eden to reach its optimal altitude. As such, Planet Earth is scheduled to be reinitialized on Fri Dec 21, 2012 1:00 pm. With MM8BDM-v3a.pk3 coming out shortly, please enjoy what little time you will have to play it.

I think of the end of the world as an individual thing. When a person dies, the world ends for that person.

Cut the Mayans some slack, by the way. After making calendars up to 2012, ragequitting is a sensible course of action.

I used to pretend to strongly believe in the existence of the end of the world on 21st of december for funny, along with using that documentary "2012" as proof of out global demise.

But when I saw a picture saying that the prediction didn't include leap years, and that we should actually have died about 18 months ago. After that, I stopped "believing".

Still, I voted for Storms/Flooding/Other Natural Disasters because yes.
