« on: December 25, 2012, 12:53:19 PM »
All is there:
http://www.rockman-corner.com/2012/12/w ... etail.html

It's really sad...i have the "feeling" It's like dead, or soon.....Cause without real games with DVD or others, do they have the faith with Rockman/Megaman? Im not sure...

Yeah, Rockman's been "dying" for the past 3 years or so.

Man, what a long death.

I personally give two horse shits about this whole retail/digital shenanigan. It's not about the property of the game or the empowerment of a physical representation of the software: it's about the game and the experience. No, seriously, am I the only one who thinks this way? Wasn't the Rockman franchise about the games in the first place?

The topic title is misleading and sensationalist. This was not what Brett Elston said. What he said was:

Quote
"It’s entirely possible we’ll find an idea or concept that warrants a full disc release, but for the immediate future, digital feels like the right way to experience Mega Man. What form it takes, and which platform(s) it appears on, would need to suit the game and the intended audience. That said, the perceived quality of a digital title should be quite strong these days; just because something arrives via download and not in a box doesn’t mean it’s “lesser” in some way."

This is PR, though. You can sink into your own little sad hole if you want. I'm gonna be here giving two shits about Ke$ha the lack of physical games. Also, I'll be laughing at the implication of quality behind physical representations of gaming software.

Even though ive barely discovered the Mega Man franchise I feel like Capcom is being a douche in not giving Mega Man a chance to revive its series, Its like Capcom doesnt care about the MM Community I understand how a person quit and all but come on, Not just that but tons of Fan Games have stopped development due to Capcom's cancelling
This is beyond Redemption...

I never liked the idea of digital only media.

When the system is obsolete, or the company isn't in business, where are you going to get it?
At least when I want to play Medieval, Earthworm Jim, or Halo 2, I WILL be able to play them, no questions asked, for as long as I own the physical disc.

In most cases, software classed as abandonware is not in the public domain, as it has never had its original copyright officially revoked and some company or individual may still own rights. While sharing of such software is usually considered copyright infringement, in practice copyright holders rarely enforce their abandonware copyrights and may allow the product to de facto lapse into the public domain to such an extent that enforcement becomes impractical.

Since you're no longer at risk of being sued for piracy, downloading Megaman 15 from a random site will be much easier than finding and buying a hard copy.

It's clear that some material would be available, and others would not.

And even if everything was available elsewhere, it's still a needlessly complicated process.
So, I'm not a fan of a new trend in video gaming which will inevitably be uncertain and confusing.
I don't think that does anyone any service.

Mega Man classic died the moment Inafune left and Universe was cancelled. It is our job now to keep it alive.

Agree with Mike here, pretty much.

Honestly, classic MegaMan was actually getting a bit stale. I mean, I really like the age-old MM formula, but it needed change. All they did with each game was changed the bosses, levels and weapons, really. (But Universe did look interesting, at least.)

I feel like games like MM8BDM keep things fresh. Turning MegaMan into an FPS was really original, but kept the feel of the classic games at the same time.

Its reasons like these that I love the fanbases for some games. I hope that fans continue to to do something fresh and original, because honestly, I'm not sure I'd buy an MM11 even if it came out unless it did something to change things up.

But, eh, I feel like I'm rambling and going off topic a little bit here.

I'm always for Mega Man being taken in BRAVE, NEW directions. I know people will cry foul because of Bomberman Zero and other travesties, but a new next-gen look for Mega Man could turn out fun if done right.
