MM8BDM Wiki Revival Project: Apply Within!

So they've vandalised the wiki, and finally it's going to get shut down forever.

Which means they've won. They got what they wanted. What do they want from us?

When someone drops the nuke, everybody loses.

As for what they want, I'm sure that it was to piss us off for different reasons. Those who hate me just wanted to see me rage; those who hate CutmanMike wanted to ruin his image; those who hate CutStuff wanted to gross those who check the wiki... Who knows? In any case, the only thing the wikia was useful for was to get skins.

I could actually set up a Wiki on Cutstuff.net if everyone would prefer that, and only allow trusted users to edit it. Bit of a shame though, since a lot of information has already been set up on the wikia one. Someone would have to migrate everything over manually unless Wikia has some kind of export function (I doubt it, or else everyone would be doing this to avoid wikia's trash ads). Might be able to shut it down though and start fresh? Let me know if you guys would want that.

I'd love to have a wiki on Cutstuff. It'd be a shame to lose all the work from the wikia, though I'm sure that a lot of the stuff was outdated due to the changes in maps and stuff in recent releases. Still, if there's anything we can salvage, we should do it while it's still up.

There were tons of outdated stuff on that wiki, so I think it would be better if not everything was exported automatically. Also, if we get a new wiki, someone should make a new thread too as HD is long gone from the forums.

If you can do that, it'd probably be slightly more convenient to be able to do things on our own site rather than having to rely on an outside source. I'd help out, if nothing else.

Also slightly irrelevant but if we're gonna put some effort into making a wiki live we should probably keep trying to follow suit with the blog / newsletter as well. Ever since v3a it's kinda just been version release central, and it'd probably be nice to show off more about the community (competitions, projects in development, new gamemodes) so that people coming for the game can still get the game, but also know that there's stuff going on beneath the initial layer and have possibly greater incentive to sign in and stuff. Might just be me, but iunno.

I gave several people access to the blog but it was still rarely ever used. Also I doubt many people would actually use it to track new mod releases regardless, as most people just use wadseeker to boot up whatever is being played at the moment or just browse through the projects forum.

Does anyone here have additional access to the Wikia one or is it pretty much just whatever goes?

I feel bad about what happened to the blog, releases aren't as frequent as I hoped so I stopped writing for it
I may still have access (and a lot of mods and events to cover) if people still pay attention to it, but its not exactly a focus of the site I don't think

We're planning on making a new wiki entirely, so we won't have to worry about anonymous vandalism anymore.
