Edward in final fantasy 4. Many people think he's useless, but with a little grinding, he helps quite a bit.

Mega Man DOS

...Actually yeah, Mega Man DOS. I kinda like the games.

Though the first one is better than the second(third?) one.

Tyrian. Not the most known Shoot'Em Up around here, but one of the few western shmups worth playing.

And then.. Resident Evil Gaiden. Story-wise, ain't so bad. But the gameplay is crap.

The Dragon Quest series is severely under rated, outside of Japan

Because Capcom is a jerk.
Indeed, my good man.

Tails from Sonic 2 onwards.
I mean really, has anyone wanted to play as Tails? He can fly, but in Sonic 2 he couldn't so, he was basically a retextured Sonic anyways.

and to save myself from posting again....
Mother 1 and 3 (2 underrated RPGs), Mother 2/Earthbound is my favorite among the 3, but everyone always talks about that, and how its still "underrated" I think with many people thinking the same thing, I think it is safe to say that Earthbound isn't that underrated after all, especially since it has been released for VC.
But Mother 1 or 3? Those didn't even come out in the English language, nor on the US or EUR regions.
Mother 1 was a bit of a challenging grind fest with all the random enemy encounters and what-not, but it still has a pretty nice story, some neat innovations slightly ahead of its time.
as for Mother 3, that really wasn't released in the English language at all, not even a prototype.
Nice to know some fans made a translation patch. A neat innovation that I liked was the beat-combos, using the music against the enemies will get you 16-hit combos, in an RPG. Such ignored innovations...

Yes, I almost always use Tails when playing Sonic 2. He has a fractionally smaller hitbox, and as such won't activate all of those fucking exploding star things on Metropolis Zone, resulting in a slightly easier (read as: less shitty and cheap) run through that particular zone. Score one for the mutant fox over the blue spiky thing.
